Today MSI has come up with a Press Release which offers "immediate and free replacement or a refund" of the defective cards.

According to MSI, 350 defective cards were sold. Those cards do have NVIDIA's NV45 chip, MSI says the real cause of the "still unknown chip problem" remains to be found.

Msi makes garbage products, my old K8T neo and a friends K8N neo both kept freezing, I knew it was the motherboard, put it this way, my 12V on an OCZ Power stream 530 was 11.90 with the pots on the psu turned WAY high, then I got the DFI and my 12V went to 12.06 rofl.

MSI is not garbage. The chip manf is hardly their fault and i applaud them for their fast response. THe only time i remember them having problems was when they used those cheap capacitors that kept blowing up. But that was fixed years ago.

*the only reason they have lower prices, is becuase the company is chinese, and all their manufacturing is in china, and well in china there is something called cheap labor, where they pay very,very low wages.

MSI's quality has gone way downhill the last few years. They're like the "Ultra X-Connect" of motherboards. Loads of flash, auto-OC settings galore, and yet, still using two-phase CPU VRMs instead of three-phase like the other quality mfgs (like Gigabyte, Asus, etc.) I rate them at an imperceptable step above ECS/PCChips right now. Granted, I am currently using an MSI board, but given my experience with it, it will be a while before I consider another MSI mobo.
