Hand-built, tested 1000 times...

I've been trying to tell you guys this for YEARS!!!!!

1.) The absense of the C139 capacitor.
2.) Power management problems
3.) AGP slot heat...

From what I hear from Gigabyte, they have a BIOS fix coming out which SHOULD solve these problems but this is STUPID regardless. If I didn't have to pay extra to get another mobo, I would've returned this thing immediately.

Anyways, try it yourself. Possible fixes include upping the vcore +7.5% and getting a better power supply. If you're missing the C139 capacitor, you're more likely to have problems running high end video cards. This is why when the stores test the board with their crapalicious GF2MXes, they have no problems at all. Ti4600s and 8500s suck up a lot of power.

Ronin,

Who'd you get the motherboard from? What Lot number is your board (I know it's a 1.1 revision... the lot # is on the back of the parallel port).

And FYI, I test my boards with a PowerColor GeForce4 Ti4400.

No idea. The board isn't exactly in front of me right now.

Either way...I don't care. This shouldn't have been an issue. It says "Compatible with GF4" on the front of the box so it should be. If they do not have an IMMEDIATE fix for me, then they don't get my money. I've been nice and waited so long already...so forget it. Gigabyte can go to hell...and if they anger me futher, I'm going to take them there.

Taiwan is relatively close to Thailand...where I can buy guns...lots and lots of guns.

Forget it, bro...just return it, try to get your money back and try your luck with a MSI, Epox or a Asus board.

Well, I've hit the last straw. I swore it wasn't a power supply issue, but everyone I spoke to said....What? Your PSU is the problem, it's a piece of crap.

I ran out and paid a ridiculous amount of money for an Antec 430, which is a full 80 Watts more power than the supply in my box now.

Not a damn bit of difference.

It is definetly not an XP problem as I have all the latest updates and drivers.

No motherboard should try our patience this much...so don't buy this hunk of crap.

Gigabyte GA-7VRXP VER 1.0 and 1.1. There is a design flaw on these motherboards in the 1.5V regulator.
It cannot supply enough current for the NV25 GPU AGP 4X mode. Therefore their claim that this motherboard supports all GeForce 4 video cards is an untruth to say the least. In fact it is a lie and leaves them open to a class action lawsuit for false advirtising. There are thousands of these crappy mobo's out here. We all need to get together and put the pressure on these con artists. If they want to do business in my country they had better obey our law. If you feel the way I do, send me an email at guru4all@sprintpcs.com.
Lets get together and make these jerks live up to their claims. I look forward to hearing from you all.
WE SHOULD DEMAND VERSION 2.0 MOBOS and we keep the old ones. The 1.0 and 1.1 do run most GEFORCE 2 and 3 video cards in AGP 4X.

lol...well, I totally agree that Gigabyte should be sued for false advertising and that we should be allowed to get replacements at no extra cost (I got my MSI KT3 Ultra-ARU as a direct swap), I seriously doubt Gigabyte would allow you to keep the v1.0 and v1.1 boards.

Either way, Gigabyte sucks. Don't buy their crapalicious board.

Hey Ronin! What up?
Yeah I put my crapalicious ECS K7S6A back in running 133/133/33. I changed the cas latency to 2 and with my Winfast A250 (TI 4400-NV25) I get similar benchmarks to the useless GA-7VRXP.. All this hype about Memory running at 333Mhz when the simple truth is if the FSB is running at 266Mhz having the memory run at 333Mhz just increases the cas latency, so you can no extra performance. We have reached the theoretical bandwidth limitations of current technology! Now don't start on about AGP 8X. It will not be twice as fast as 4X. If it gives an increase of 7% I will be surprised. I am currently using my Useless-Byte mobo as a parts shelf...

"How fast can you make a Gerbil run? As fast as a Gerbil can run..."
