Based on what he has done. He loves to stir up trouble and pull the race card.

He was one of the many who called racism when Trayvon Martin was killed yet he says nothing about all the black people killed by other black people because he can't pull the race card. If anyone brings it up to counter his idiotic arguments he calls them a racist.

"The Rev. Al Sharpton is calling for a high-profile community summit to address black-on-black violence after Harlem was rocked by a wave of shootings over Memorial Day."

""Last year alone, nearly one black child a day under the age of 17 was shot and killed in New York City. Shot mostly by other black city residents," Sharpton said."

""Shootings and violence within our community by one of our own is an outrage and an issue that we must confront as diligently and as passionately as a sensational case of police misconduct or brutality.""

Still not enough considering all the other BS he has pulled.

Still upset about getting teabagged.

So you have not watched his show on MSNBC yet you claim he is race baiting on it.

That chart shows fox news viewership in steady decline since 2009, despite a steady uptick in revenue (read Koch money).

Dave and Chuck must be pissed.

.

Lmao please explain how Fox News revenues are being bolstered by Koch money.

I am conservative, but I just do not like FOX. All the people on it seem like plastic east coast yuppies. The people don't even seem real. I don't watch much TV anyway. However, I still go to the CNN website. I know it has a liberal slant so I just look at articles and realize you have to have a Liberal Filter when you read it. I don't think there is any real news or journalism left in the world.

I think only about 5% of people even watch the news on TV. TV has become irrelevant.

So any poll or chart about television or cable is kind of meaningless as far as I am concerned.

I would agree. I watch the local tv news but pretty much bypass all the cable & network news shows. From this article:

Fox News is losing younger viewers at an even faster rate than its competitors. With a median viewer age now at 68 according to Nielsen data through mid-January (compared with 60 for MSNBC and CNN, and 62 to 64 for the broadcast networks), Fox is in essence a retirement community ... If it is actuarially possible, its median viewer age will keep creeping upward. (It rose by two years over the course of 2013.)

Basically mostly older people are watching all of the cable news shows. Not like there are tons of 18-49 watching this stuff.

I'm surprised that CNN is actually earning more in revenue than MSNBC, though not surprised at the declining ratings.

I usually turn on Morning Joe in the mornings while I'm getting ready for work as background noise, since it tends to at least be semi-informative without being utterly annoying, but when I get home from work, turn the TV on, and find that my DVR is still tuned to the same channel, I find their primetime programming to be utterly unwatchable.

I like to think of myself as fairly liberal, but listening to Rachel Maddow's usual snarkfest is like nails on a chalkboard to me.

MSNBC has a stable viewership with a small loss in revenue. What is the disconnect in FOX's and CNN's loss of viewership and raise in revenue? Some one fixing the books?

I go CNN all the way.

Until the last few weeks that is,..

Every story is flight 370, flight 370's hidden agenda, flight 370's baby's daddy, flight 370 and the Obama birth certificate connection,...

So true.

Jon Stewart has a funny segment about recently.

MSNBC has no news. MSNBC has no straight up journalists doing reports on location etc. It's ALL editorial with 'personalities'. I don't think their personalities are very popular among viewers. Ed Shultz strikes me as an over-the-top raving loon. he seems to constantly be in news for making wildly inappropriate remarks. He's in the news again today for obscenity he screamed on air last night. He's all about the 'rage'. (Not that others aren't, but no one takes it to the level of Ed.) I'm guessing his show doesn't bring in much ad revenue. I'm doubt many companies want to be associated with him.

I don't find Lawrence O'Donnell an attractive option. He seems a smarmy ahole. But what puts me off is that he's so repetitive. He has a habit of repeating his sentences, as if we didn't hear him the first time or feels to need to emphasize. I guess I'm too impatient for that.

Yes, Maddow is snarky. But i try to watch her anyway. But lately she has some irrelevant show topics. Instead of commenting on current news she holds an entire show recapping the Iraq war or some other older event. I know she wants to criticize Repubs, but heck, there's plenty of current material. Use it.

Then they keep showing those dang prison shows over and over again starting Friday night. I doubt those bring in many viewers or much ad revenue.
-----------

Anderson Cooper has a good show. I think it's much more news than commentary. I would guess his show brings in plenty of ad revenue.

I haven't watch much CNN the last because it's all MH370. So, I can't say much about Don lemon's new show. I saw it once or twice and it seemed OK.
------------

I know you guys don't like Fox News but they have, or had, two good news show with real journalist reporting in. (I think Sheppard moved to a new time.) But I haven't seen much of their programming lately. I've been getting home too late to watch their news and later in the night they just keep rerunning Hannity or O'Reilly.
------

Al Jazeera (AJAM) is what I mostly watch. At least they run some news shows during the night.

They've disintegrated into sensationalism and partisan rhetoric over the last 20 years; the old school investigative journalism died a slow death until it was expunged in the mid 90s.

The long term result?

"Only a bit more ‘trustworthy’ than Congress, which scored in at a record low of 90% saying they do not trust the government body, the Gallup poll details that only 23% of viewers actually trust the mainstream media television news."

http://www.storyleak.com/gallup-poll-virtually-no-one-trusts-the-mainstream-media/

Interestingly that 23% number corresponds to the number of Americans who aren't sure if the earth orbits the sun, or the other way around.

You will not find truth or insight on any of these channels. Why would you spend your time watching?

MSNBC had some really bad hosts.

Shultz is terrible. Trying to be a Midwestern union liberal copycat version of a Fox news host
Sharpton.. personal opinions aside, his TV presence is horrible. stuttering and boring.
O'Donnell- while he has some occasional interesting insights due to time as a congressional staffer, he's such an ass you can't watch him.
Maddow can be good at times, but whiney a lot of other times. Iraq is over, bush sucked, we know already.

Idk what is going on with the earlier programs. Not news, but terrible opinion people too. Bashir was a scumbag.

Only one I can watch is hardball, even though it's mostly Matthews talking to dippy David corn and that other woman. It's old school, but entertaining sometimes. Would rather watch daily show, but too many cock jokes for having kids around.

For actual news you have to go to the foreign broadcasters

I think that graph really proves just how much Fox loves Obama. Best thing that ever happened to them.

I forgot to mention him.

That used to be my favorite show.

Then after the 2008 election it became mostly a small circle-jerk about Obama and how anybody opposing any Obama policy is doing so only because they're a racist.

All the major media companies have problems, IMO. Fox has a bigger demographic but one that barely spends any money. The prime demographics simply don't watch news on TV. These were mistakes that were made decades ago to cut journalism and storytelling for sound bites and later 250 word internet articles down from 1,200 word articles.

I get my news from PBS, BBC and stuff lately. They aren't as "in the loop" and right on top of the news stories as they break, but at least they have good coverage of events and topics.
