IMO the only real news source currently is www.vice.com They go into area's where no one else will go and into topics that no one will touch. Great reporting Al Jazeera America seems pretty good and BBC is good sometimes. I go to Reuters for online news.. msnbc has really sucked lately and cnn went off the deep end with the MH370 stuff.. Rachel Maddow is usually pretty good and I like watching Anthony Bourdains show. Fox News is a joke but everyone with half a brain should know this by now. Also love watching Real Time with Bill Maher Then of course John Stewart and Colbert are awesome

you mean leftest millenial assholes

nothing against leftists or millinials per se (am a millenial and most americans would mistakenly think of me as a leftist) but they seem like assholes

Im assuming you are talking about Vice.. Some of the small stories or articles on the page might seem like that but the real good stuff is the video documentaries they do.. the one on inside of North Korea for example and Syria.

I watch Rachael all the time. She reminds me of the old air America Al Frankin show. Both covered stuff far before it became mainstream on CNN. Like covering the outting of Valerie Plame years before CNN took notice.

But actually all these so called news shows from fox thru msnbc are for entertainment only. Just like with all talk radio. No news. Not like the old days of news coverage. Reporters, the people that actually dug into finding the truth have long been replaced or eliminated for nut jobs. Even NBC nightly news has become embarrassing to watch. Sunday morning news programs are a total joke. I think face the nation only exists for John McCain to spew his delusional grumpy old man bs. They might as well call it the John McCain bs hour.

Everyone of the news so called news programs will first present their taking point, then proceed to host some moron to verify their crapola. They all do it. Every one of them.

What is interesting and far more reliable would be listening to what other foreign news say about the happenings in America. That is if and when one has the opportunity. Only then would we possibly learn something truthful about what is going on over here.

BBC and Al Jazeera are ok.

Fox, CNN, and MSNBC are awful. I actually removed them from my bookmarks since they serve no purpose other than propaganda at this point.

I only watch the Chris Matthews show for comic relief. He has the strangest odd looks and grimaces. Then I swear he's is reality like 100 years old. Some of his politics and expressions seem so dated. I do respect him for carrying the FDR torch though.

FDR. Put Japanese Americans into camps. Manipulated the economy. Centralized power. Tried to stack the Supreme Court. Probably a racist. Yeah, he was great.

I don't find Lawrence O'Donnell an attractive option. He seems a smarmy ahole.

Lawrence O'Donnell comes across as a jerk, but, worse than that, I knew I couldn't believe anything he says after he was asked about the Bilderberg Group and he said, "I have no idea what that is,” and dismissed the question. It's on the news, Lawrence, you hack!

Ask politicians and the media about Bilderberg and Bohemian Grove and watch them squirm.

Some people say RT is biased, but at least they bring up the stories in the first place that other media often won't even mention.

Nope.

And you're confusing editorial/opinion shows with "news" shows. They're different.

The more a person seeks the unadulterated truth of a matter, the less they are apt to need and/or rely on propaganda to form or confirm their beliefs.

Now apply that idea toward the fact that FOX is the highest rated cable news program* in the nation.

Just say'in. lol

* - propaganda outlet

Have you ever watched it? They don't behead folks live until late nights so its is child friendly.

Both the BBC and Al Jezzera are fairly objectve. Plus they spend more then 90 seconds on a news story giving you more background and detail so that you actually have enough information to form your own opinion instead od accepting a talking point.

Always check out multiple sources for yor news. Listening to an echo chamber gets boring fast.

He certainly did some horrendous things, no doubt. He also pretty much saved the free world single handedly. His homey Lease-Lend analogy (if my neighbor's house is on fire I don't try to sell him my hose, I just want my hose back after it's put out) convinced a recalcitrant nation and Congress to lend Great Britain the aid she could no longer afford but needed to stay in the fight. Without that aid, Great Britain would have been conquered or, more likely, concluded a separate peace agreement with Germany. Without Great Britain in the war, we could have turned our full strength against Japan and prevailed more quickly, but we would have had little reason to continue aiding Russia or the naval strength to guard the convoys, a near enough thing as it was. Without our aid and without the threat of a second front in the West, Russia could not have withstood Germany's initial push, nor the forced relocation of its industry. For about two years the Russian soldier ate American grain, wore American boots, used American trucks, even used crappy American tanks while their own factories relocated and began turning out their own superior tanks. Without Lease-Lend, very likely Germany owns all of Europe, or very nearly.

That forgives an awful lot of bad things in my book.

Total thread derailment happened here, but it is an entertaining read.

I do have to say that I am disturbed by what seemingly is being taught in schools and college these days.

MSNBC is in trouble, but so is Fox News. Their average viewer is something like 68 years old. They're not going to be around for too much longer.

While I agree there are deficiencies in their programming, I don't think any of the cable stations are going anywhere.

There are plenty of cable stations with all sorts of crappy and lowly rated shows that go on year after year. You don't get 800 channels with all knockout programming. I would still bet all the news networks are still in the upper percentiles of cable viewership, plus costs have to be fairly low.

I'm not going to carry any flags for their stupid Nielson battles.

FoxNews leads in all categories, including the 25-54 category. Things couldn't be better for them

http://www.politico.com/blogs/media/2014/03/msnbc-is-in-serious-trouble-185770.html

I'm surprised that CNN is actually earning more in revenue than MSNBC, though not surprised at the declining ratings.

I usually turn on Morning Joe in the mornings while I'm getting ready for work as background noise, since it tends to at least be semi-informative without being utterly annoying, but when I get home from work, turn the TV on, and find that my DVR is still tuned to the same channel, I find their primetime programming to be utterly unwatchable.

I like to think of myself as fairly liberal, but listening to Rachel Maddow's usual snarkfest is like nails on a chalkboard to me.

Serious note: Why would anyone care?

Well fox is going to have some compitition, just came on my cable.

One America News Network

A new right-wing news and talk station is coming to cable boxes later this year, The Daily Beast has learned.

The station, called One America News Network, is slated to announce its launch formally at the Conservative Political Action Conference, the annual gathering of conservatives, in Washington on Thursday.

The new network is a production of Herring Broadcasting, the San Diego-based company behind Wealth TV, a channel dedicated to appealing to and documenting the lifestyles of the rich and famous.

One America News Network, on the other hand, has a two-tier mission: providing opinion-free straight news reporting and right-leaning talk shows.

I love Vice, I have it on my HBOGO subscription list.

I'm interested to see how this is going to be for grins and giggles.
