Because of Honda's renown for resale and reliability, three of the four judges noted they'd still buy the Accord over the second-place finisher. But, unfortunately for Honda, we can't score based on intangibles.

Well if that doesn't say something about the Accord vs Malibu, I don't know what does.

lol the truth is in the fine print

But the new redesign, the reviewers had the same issue as I have with that center console. Just a mass of buttons that gives me a headache. Its ugly too.

note though they tested an SE trim camry, those really do handle better than the other camry trims.

so if you want to buy a camry, buy an SE. . .

Yeah, Honda has been building good cars for quite a while now. I don't see how that has anything to do with the quality of the new Malibu...

I'll wait for the Car and Driver comparison instead of the old men with bowel issues comparison. There's a reason that Camry got its ass handed to it by the previous generations of some of these cars in C&D's comparo. And since the Malibu and Accord made C&D's 10 best list, while the Camry was missing in action, I'll take bets on Camry finishing near the back of the pack again. That is, if they even bother to invite it for another thrashing, since C&D generally ignores losers once they've lost, and doesn't invite them back for additional comparisons.

It's because Honda has proven themselves for years.

Because Ford comes out w/ a Fusion that takes its AWD version & beats up on 2WD counterparts it says that the whole world is saying, "It's like we're back!" ??WTF??

Same thing with the Malibu. Because its first year is apparently an improvement.......... (and yes, you can keep that "burnt amber" two-tone interior for yourself & we'll revisit that color pallet in about 5 years to see how unfvckingbelievably ugly it is 'bout then)........we're supposed to assume that this car is "great" and more frighteningly, "reliable".

Reliability is a temporal concept. We need like 4 or 5 years before we can start talking about reliability.

Accord's been there...........Malibu has not!

Yeah maybe the two tone might get ugly after a while. But it'll take some time, though the Camry's interior is ugly from the get go. Toyota used to suck in interior quality but people bought it for its reliability. Now that Toyota is under the fire for its reliability, the spotlight is now also shining on the abysmal interior choices and fugliness of its cars.

Text

And while some folks may think it's bland, (heck, I'm not at all impressed by the Malibu interior & obviously the mags love it)........this is certainly not ugly.......

If I had to live w/ a car like this every day, I think I'd be.........well........quite happy, actually!

The interior of the camry is not only bland, but it's bland *and* ugly. "Hey look, my whole radio area lights up like a retarded CompGeek LED case!"

Please, Toyota = fail with the camry.

And finally reminds him that blue is probably not so bad considering the "Pumpkin Pie Barf" two-tone as listed by the aforementioned Chevy Malibutt.

You do realise that the moronic one eyed domestic fanboy club is just as stupid as the moronic one eyed import fanboy club?

They're just cars, get a life already folks

Used Lexus... Unless you get a bone stock IS250, but who wants that? The IS250 is way overpriced. I would rather spend the extra few grand and get an IS350.

But when you are aiming to get the general public to buy it, they don't usually want asstastical blue led lights everywhere. I laugh at your inability to understand that you don't have to have the two-toned interior and, without it, the interior is still far superior to the Camry.

Camry = old people who want a decent car, but haven't read new reviews for it. Anything else is for discerning public.

Damn, what's with all the Altima hate? Then again, I'm used to seeing MotorTrend suck Toyota's proverbial dick.

Edmunds came up with a pretty different assessment...but they were not testing the Camry SE.

I have to say, as a family who has owned a lot of Toyota's and many Camrys...I'm not nearly as impressed with this latest model. I feel the interior seems cheap in comparison to the accords (my brother-in-law has the top end model and it just doesn't compare in my book...the radio/HVAC buttons/dials just seem cheap with their "see-through" treatment. The engine is strong and I can appreciate that.

I don't like the two-toned interior of the Malibu...but there are plenty of other choices interior wise that are not as "sassy". The exterior look is growing on me and I'm impressed GM has come such a long with and still undercuts the opponents in price. I'd certainly give it a second look if I were in this market. Ultimately though, I'm pretty sure I'd end up buying the Accord...from interior dimensions to fuel economy to tech features...it just seems like the best of the bunch.

Bah, although I like Edmunds results (yay 2nd place Altima ), they compared the Altima SE to the Camry XLE. IMO, it should have been SE vs SE or SL vs XLE.

Agreed that the accord interior looks great but every review and everyone fails to mention on bit thing. If you get leather seats they are VERY uncomfortable. I test drove a full loaded accord sedan and the seats felt like i was sitting on a rock. I told this to the salesman and he said yep its a general complaint with the accord.

IMO all four of these cars are terrible. Why anyone would be satisfied with one of these boring hulks is beyond me (and I have in fact driven them all).

If I were shopping for a mid-sized family car right now it would hands down be the Mazda6, because frankly it's the only car worth considering. The entire class of cars is boring, gutless, sloppy handling, mushy ride, dead steering, the list goes on and on. People wonder why SUVs sell so well - its because mid-sized cars suck.

Import the current Mondeo from the UK and I'll have one of those over the Mazda6. Hurry up and put a diesel in the Accord and I'll have one of those until I go bored out of my mind.

Oh please. Is you post even close to being serious?

These things are running a Mid 14 second 1/4 with trap speeds in the mid/high 90's. How fast does your typical family of four need to make the run to the grocery store?

The midsize is dying? It's the bread and butter mass market mover for a company. The Accord and Camry are moving upwards of half a MILLION of them a year.

And for the record, the Mazda6 really isn't all that. I drove a 6s(MT) back to back with a Mazda3s (MT) and the 3 was an entirely more engaging and enjoyable car to drive and ended up buying the 3.
