I got mine finally. Opened them up and they look good. Not great but well worth the money. They have small drivers, Under 3". The surround is an impregnated fabric and the driver cone appears to be a textured plastic. The tweeter is a piezo.
I would recommend these for anyone interested in an Inexpensive Bedroom, spare surround /dorm room system, or basement setup. Just get them and add a Subwoofer and cheapie 5.1 reciever. I have had luck with pawn/used stores or the Onkyo outlet however:
You might want to team these up with the following:
SUB
RECEIVER
If you get all of these. You are talking $300 for a reciever, speaker, and sub that will kill any HTB setup at this price point.
There is room to save here as Polk occasionally has subs on sale and getting the used receiver option. You could easliy trim this setup down to the $170 level.
One thing you could do is get 2 sets of these speakers and use both center channels in the D'Appolito configuration.
Link Then use this with a powered sub and have a good computer setup.
You would have 8 extra regular speakers to use in a 7.1 setup or just double up the front or rears in a 5.1 setup.
I will post my listening and modifying review in a few days. Sorta busy this weekend.
Oh yeah as stated before. The cables included are a nice lil bonus:
1 3.5mm male stereo jack to left right RCA longish cord.
1 3.5mm female stereo jack to left right RCA.
1 RCA to RCA left right patch cord 36" plus.
5 bundles of less than 18guage speaker wire. 3 of one length LRC and 2 for rear speaker length.
Then the mystery D-Sub to RCA jacks dongle cord. Dsub to 6 labled rca jacks for a 5.1 setup. LRC, LR, RR, Sub.
