multi-boot cd.

What i'm trying to make is a multiboot cd.. that can prompt.. something like:

Possible Boot Setups:
---------------------------
1) Windows 2000 Pro Setup
2) Windows 2000 Server Setup
3) Windows 2000 Advanced Server Setup
4) Windows 98 SE Boot Disk
5) Slackware 8.0 Setup
6) etc.!

Anyways.. I have all the boot images, but i really don't know how come to combine them all together. I've seen cdroms that allow you to boot setups for Windows 98/Win2k Pro, but I want additional features. Can someone head me to the right direction?

All the Windows stuff can be handlled by a combination of config.sys/autoexec.bat files. I am not sure of Slackware though coz I never installed a Linux distro without the installation CD.

But how are you going to store them onto one CD even if you can?

There are several utilities to make cd-rom boot menus.
Search simtel.net or your favorite download place.
One I know of is called makecd or makecdrom.
I haven't had the need to use any of these, so I don't know what the limitations are.
I imagine it would be pretty tricky to run the slackware install, though.

Go back and see if you can find some old DOS batch making books or websites. Place each boot disk in its own seperate folder, each with its apprios autoexec.bat, config.sys.

You can create a menu call menu.bat, have it called from the first autoexec.bat in the root of the boot CD. There is a way to do this if you do some digging, I used to do this kinda stuff all the time, just can't remember how.

If you can get rid of the WIn2K options, you'd be golden. I just don't think you can boot anything NT-based from DOS (via config.sys or autoexec.bat) because there IS NO DOS IN NT!!!!!

You should be able to use LILO to do this from a floppy. Why do you want to do this from a CDROM? Also, Why the W2K Pro/S/AS redundency? What would be more of a challenge is getting all of them installed on a live filesystem on one CD!

The man wants several options to lead to a setup of a OS, but not OS itself!

grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr! the reason for this multiboot cd is to simply have something that can boot into different setups / boot prompts.. without having the hassle.. of having 10 cds / bootdisks for booting

fow, I know what he meant. Even still, when you are installing NT/2K/XP you are still running its kernel which is NOT DOS. That's why the corresponding CDs have their own unique bootstrap.

Well. I used to be able to install 2000 from DOS prompt without problem. Don't about XP though.
