I am just curious, is there any way to put monitors all around you and have them work like that? For example, with a monitor in front of you, a monitor behind you, a monitor to the left of you, and a monitor to the right of you, do you think that if you looked at the left monitor while playing a game, you would see what is to the left of your character, and if you looked at the back monitor, you would see what was behind your character? Is there some sort of software that would let windows do this?

I remember you could even do this in the original Doom. I know some flightsims support this.

The not too distant future of more immersive gaming environments (once the technology is sufficiently advanced) will be VR goggles, that will surround your visual senses with the world in which you are playing. Such devices would ideally have 180 degrees of peripheral vision viewing and would allow you to observer your environment in whatever direction you move your head.

Of course it could be quite disorienting and risky to wear if you fall out of your chair.

The problem with that is that those monitors are 2560 x 1600 resolution, which means you need to use Dual Link DVI, which means either a FireGL or Quadro card on a PC... or pay the $405 to upgrade to GeForce 6800 DDL when you buy a new G5 from Apple. And then, each monitor is $2699. And since there are no PCI cards with DL, you can only have two such monitors on each G5.

(Actually, if you use plain DVI, you can run the 30" at a pixel doubled 1280 x 800, but that's kind of a lame waste of quality)

Use multiple monitors but set it to "clone desktop" not "extend desktop". R
