Multiple Monitor Configuration

I need to create a 2x2 (4 total) monitors configuration but I'm new to this so I'm asking of the following questions:

1.) What kind of desktop cpu do you recommend?
2.) What kind of monitors do you recommend?
3.) What kind of graphics cards do you recommend / do I need a different one than the stock cpu?
4.) Is this type of set up easy to create?

I'm an investment analyst/trader so I need to create an orientation where I can use multiple screens. I'm not an idiot with software but I'm not sure where to start, and to be honest, it's a bit overwhelming with all the choices out there.

Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

There are several options, but initially, you could get a single video card that could drive 4 displays. However, it might be more affordable to get two video cards that each could drive 2 displays.

Do you have an existing computer you plan to use? Some computers (motherboard) can accept/receive multiple video cards, but other motherboards can't. If your computer/motherboard has a built-in video card, you may be able to buy a separate/discrete video card and install it, and use your built-in video card along with the separate video card you bought. This would depend on the particular motherboard, whether it can support this (some can, some can't).

But when you buy a computer today, odds are it already includes a built-in/integrated video card that supports 2 displays, so you can buy a $20 discrete video card and be done with it. That is cheaper than buying a computer, and then a fancier video card that can support 4 displays.

Can you provide any more details on any hardware you already may have? Or are you starting with a blank slate?

Sorry, I should have provided more details.

I'm basically starting from scratch. I currently have a Samsung laptop but that is from 4 years ago and I'm really looking to junk it. I'm looking for a desktop (I think I will just buy a MacBook air / pro to use for a mobile computing solution) but wasn't sure if they're certain things I need to look for in a desktop to achieve my goal.

With regards to the monitors and graphics cards, I need a monitors that high resolution, HD displays and a graphics card that can handle the high resolution displays. I've seen the apple thunderbolt display and they're nice (though pricy) but I'm not really on any type of budget.
