multiple monitors with a laptop?

hey guys, i was thinking what i would do is to buy 2 1600x1200 monitors hook them up to my laptop for a really chill laptop-->desktop conversion when i'm in my room. my laptop is a dell inspiron with a crappy screen size, and its video card is a mobility radeon 9000.

however, it only has 1 monitor slot, so i can only hook one of the monitors to it straight up. i did some research and found a cable called "dualhead2go" http://www.matrox.com/graphics/offhome/dh2go/home.cfm , however, it has a gay limitation: the maximum screen size that it can accomodate is two 1280x1024's, so i won't be able to use both of my monitors at maximum resolution which is pretty pointless

so does anybody know any way to get multiple monitors at their native resolutions working on my laptop?

is there a docking station (port replicator) that has two monitor outputs on it? check dell

Alright I have a lappy with the same graphics as you noted-
I can only hook up one monitor, and then use the LCD as the secondary, but I do not beleive it can output to 3. EVen on a desktop most Graphics card (gaming, 9800, x800, x850 etc) seem to only allow 2.
If you get that cable, I am thinking that it would simply just display two monitors with the same output- I cant confirm this because I havent tried it but I imagine that is the case because when you output to another monitor, the machine will know, "hey theres 2 monitors here, do you want to extend your desktop? or just duplicate the desktop?"

So my answer based on the info is you can only output to one external monitor. so in that case, just get a HUGE monitor!

also, make sure to check what the max res is on that card, mine I have only gotten it to 1300 something, no higher.

the mattrox dual head , will allow you to connect 2 monitors...But not at independent resolutions for each monitor....it will run them both side by side as one monitor.
You'll need the docking station from Dell to do what you are thinking about....even then , your video card may not have the power to really run two monitors at high resolution.
