Hi! I have a Windows NT4 system. I just got AT&T Cable Internet. Problem is - I want to be able to share it on the local network via a proxy server. I can't get both cards to work at the same time.
Since I'm not sure what IRQs things are on, and NT doesn't have that nice device manager screen, I'll refer to the PCI slots as A and B. The AT&T guy installed the cable net on net card slot "B", since that was the only one in there. I tried to install a second network card, and it goes in slot "A." Thing is, its the one hooked up to the network. All Internet applications insist that the cable internet is on "A", which it is not. The real cable internet, which is on slot B, doesn't work. When I swap the cards (move the cable net one to A and the LAN one to B), the cable net one works, but the LAN one doesn't.
Basically, whenever there are two cards in the machine, whichever one in "A" works, and whichever one is in "B" doesn't. Please help me out here. I have a feeling it has something to do with bindings and NT being "too friendly" and trying to figure everything out by itself.
BTW - The two cards are: Linksys LNE2000(99% sure on that) PCI card (10) (cable modem), and a brand-new Netgear FA-311 (10/100) (LAN).
