I have perhaps an easy question.
My wireless/wired network consists of a desktop PC, a couple of laptops and two ReplayTVs. ReplayTV doesn't like DHCP so I was trying to turn off DHCP on my router but I ended up losing the internet connection on my desktop PC. Not sure why that is but I hard reset my Netgear Router back to default settings because I couldn't even logon to the router's IP address.
Since then I've had a couple of wierd things going on. The RTV that is connected via wired ethernet has had some problems acquiring a DHCP IP address and even entering it manually doesn't seem to work reliably.
In addition, the desktop has network awareness and internet access but it keeps popping up with windows asking for the username and password to access IP 192.168.1.1. These popups indicate the router's model number WGR614V5 and IP and come up whenever a program is trying to access the internet such as Bitdefender or Steam. This didn't come up before the hard reset. Any thoughts on how to eliminate these?
