Multipliers?

I have a XP-M 3000+ that I'm running on a ABIT KT7A using a modified BIOS. It is usually running at the default 16.5 X 133FSB = 2200mhz.

It is a mobil processor so the multipliers are unlocked. My question is this:

Can I use a higher multiplier than it's default highest one being 16.5? What I want to do is run it at 22 X 100FSB = 2200mhz. I ask because if I can do that then I should be able to go as high as 24 X 100FSB = 2400mhz. Right?

Right now I have it at 16.5 X 143FSB = 2360mhz. If I add any more to the FSB I get the blue screen. I think though that if I started at 24 X 100FSB = 2400mhz I could then add a little more to the FSB.

How am I doing so far being I overclocked a 2200mhz mobil processor up to 2360mhz on a KT133A chipset mobo using standard air? Should I be able to get much more out of it? Keep in mind that this mobo is only supposed to go up to a 12.5 multiplier. The modded BIOS lets me choose anything up to 24 but when I try it, it stays at 16.5 no matter what I choose above the 16.5 multiplier. I'm happy with that over-all but I had figured this being a mobil that I would be able to overclock it pretty hard if I wanted. I had figured when I got it that I'd be able to get her up to around 2700mhz.

O RLY Gas stations sell mobile processors?

Technically it should work. I have never overclocked an unlocked multi chip so I have no idea.

Yeah you could try that, but remember there are a lot of limitations besides the fsb. Like for example too much heat, since it was still 130nm tech I don't think you could go over 2500. Good luck

The question is if my processor is designed to run at full speed using 16.5 as it's multiplier, is it even possible to use a higher one than 16.5 on that processor?

Yes, it's possible, but maybe not with your motherboard. If you had an nForce 2 chipset, it's possible.

100fsb? thats just stupid.

set it to 200 and set the multi to like 11.5 or 12, 2.4 gigs easy with the right cooling.

higher FSB was always better as i remembered it when clocking the athlon xp-m

or atleast try 166, with say 13

no reason to max out the multi; just get the fastest fsb you can and then raise the multi as high as you can.

Sounds good. My issue is that even when I set a higher multi it still stays at 16.5 and that makes me wonder if it is locked somehow but being a mobil it can't be locked so I'm wondering what is keeping me from using higher multi's. The ram is Crucial PC133 CAS2. I can run the mobo stable at 16.5 X 143fsb. If I go even 1 FSB higher it blue screens.

I think most of the Bartons were locked??? Even the mobiles.
