And, you don't think the clerk could have retreated? His best self defense argument would be that he was disoriented in the heat of the moment and not aware of route to retreat. But that's why we have trials. I think it's kind of silly to expect the prosecutor to be making self defense argument for the defendant.

There's the rub. If the store clerk/owner? had looked like The Rock, dude would have never "pulled that crap". It was predatory behavior, but in this instance he done goofed/gravely miscalculated.

Stoked the case was dropped, but feel bad for the clerk. He has to live with this trauma now, and is likely experiencing PTSD. Regardless of the circumstances, most of us aren't going to do well in the aftermath of taking someone's life.

It is very clear that an innocent person was attacked by a couple, seriously stabbed, before being able to prevail in a violent life and death struggle. Against two assailants who had a weapon. The innocence of the man could not be any clearer.

Are you expecting him to wait until they finish stabbing him to death before you would allow him to defend himself?
Do you hold yourself to the same standard, are you a pacifist who would not raise a finger in your own self defense?

I didn't see anyone who disagreed that it was self-defense except for one poster who didn't know his state's own self-defense and another who apparently didn't watch the video.
IMO the only reason this matter became partisan is because some people wanted it to be.

I recall from this thread(?), a picture of the woman with a knife in a ready to use position.
I recall reports of how the victim was injured and had infected knife wounds. Photos of those.

This was a life and death struggle that two people initiated. One of the attackers lost their life in that struggle.

I contend that it was valid for the victim to take that life in self defense. As the only means of defending himself.
There is overwhelming evidence for this conclusion.
Do you need or want to further harm the victim of this crime, by prosecuting them?

Heck, I'll take it one further. The women could be charged with felony murder. Punish the attacker. Not the victim.
