Yes, there's two models in the same family and storage class.

First one, is 480GB, this one has a SandForce controller (sucks):

Second one, is 512GB like the Enhanced Reactor (probably same drive inside), with an SMI 2246EN controller(good):

Considering that the Enhanced Reactor drive is $159.99, and this new ECO2 model with the same size and controller (likely same internal drive) is only $129.99, for half a TB, that seems like a deal to me. The SandForce model, far less so.

Edit: First link is $124.99 still, but second link (good SMI controller model) has raised the price to $144.99.

Too good to pass up at $129.99... that's $3.93 a gigabyte.

Thanks Larry

Wow, we have really come a long way from when I bought my first 64gb M4 for $130.

I could really use another ssd to install games on, 500gb 850 evo is running out of place... But I will wait for BF fire sales, my new target price is under 100

reviews seem poor.

What reviews? There are no Newegg reviews for the (good) SMI controller-based 512GB ECO2 drive.

The previous model ECO2 drives with SandForce controller, are, well, the usual for generic SandForce drives. Not so great.

What people seem to be missing is that the 120/240/480 sizes are SandForce 2200 drives which VirtualLarry says are crap (and reviews tend to agree).

The 512GB drive that is being praised for not having an SF controller (it has an SMI 2246EN) has little to no reviews as it is brand new.

I've had pretty good luck with all the ECO2 drives...they're just typical Sandforce SF2200 drives. Fine unless you have a lot of compressed data being written.

SF2200 has been around for so long that the provided LSI firmware Mushkin and most OEM's are using is pretty reliable.
