mushkin limiting overclock??

I posted a similar topic a long time ago, but i have pics to back up all this info.

I'm trying to get to 3.1ghz, but my ram is not really letting me, and if i'm going to overclock i want my ram going up in speed too, and not putting it on a 7/10 divider which would put the ram on a sub ddr500.

I did attempt a (340x9)=3060mhz so my ram was at ddr510 3-3-2-8@2.7. Computer booted right to windows and was able to run 1mb and 32mb super_pi w/o a problem. I then tried 3dmark 01 and was getting abnormally low frames and it would have like 5sec pauses every once in a while during benching. I then tried loosing up the timings to 3-4-4-8, and still the same result.

Heres some reference picks. I know the picks are my current overclock, but these were the same exact settings i was using for 340x9

have you ran the DDR Voltage up? 2.7 is kinda low the redline likes the Voltage, and mushkin will cover up to 2.9 . I would start there. keep the timming loose till you get it stable then start working the timing down.

Yeah, loose the timings and jacl up the Voltage. I have the non redline rame 2Gb kit also and my max is at 3-4-3-8@2.7 530. The redlines overclock better but dotn forget that these are gig modules and those are not that good as their 512 pairs when comes to OCing. I doubt you will reach 600 with those redlines, definetly not with those timings.

Hmm try to increase the CPU voltage, maybe that is your problem. Anand reached 586 in his review, so you should be able to reach much better results then what u have now.

I just have a weak set. My ram doesn't like it when i crank the volts, just makes things worse. I tried what i could and i've gotten close. I managed to get the abnormally low frames back up, but it would still freeze every so often in 3d apps. I typical sign of my type of ram that reaches its limit is 3d instability no matter what you do. I just have to deal with it.

I think i'm gonna swap my friend this ram since he really doesn't overclock and i'll take back my (tccd) geil one s. I was able to boot to 2-2-2-5 ddr500, but never messed with any of the extra settings, but hey we'll see. I'll look into other 2x1 kits later, and this time i'll try either gskill, or ocz i don't know yet.

Currently i managed to sqeeze every ounce from these mushkins at ddr500. I have everything else really tight with timings of 3-3-2-0 ddr500@2.6v (my ram likes under volting??)
