I wanted to let you all know it is getting close to time for me to order ram again. I wanted to include a few other types of ram this time other then just the Rev2 128Mg sticks.

I can offer the following:

128Mg Rev2 PC133 for 175 shipped.
128Mg HSDRAM PC150 for 175 shipped.
256Mg Rev2 PC133 for 375 IF we can get 10 or more.

This is the third group buy I have done and I don't aim to try to undermine Sinful Weepers buy plans in any way. I simply had the plan to place another order the end of this month but did not start a new thread about it so no one really knew. If he gets 100 sticks on his order his will be cheaper then mine by 2 bucks so help him fill his order to 100 sticks, otherwise this one is available.

Thanks,
Doug

Yeah I will be placing the order within a week. I had planned on the 31st but I don't think that most people could have the money to me by then and I have to do it prepay because of the amount of money. I do have good references bacause I have sold about 100 sticks of Rev2 since I started doing this.

I just have a question. If I am not running my system over 133Mhz, will the 1.5 rev perform as good as the rev 2?
Thanks

I wish I could buy more ram, but I got two modules of ECC 128mb....It NEVER have crashes with ECC on...without it, I crash/lockup every few days or so....bummer.

Too bad I can't tell my BIOS to ECC only certain banks of ram, that'd be cool.

I really don't expect it to get much cheaper on the 256Mg sticks unless we get to an outrageous quantity that I simply don't anticipate. I really am not too comfortable doing this buy with SW trying to get one going at the same time though. I think if he doesn't end up getting his 100 stick order then we could get enough people on 256 sticks to get a few more dollars off. As of right now these are the prices I am dealing with and as the last time, I will issue refunds if something happens and the price drops before the deal is done.

Much appreciated,

djohn: you really outa try finding out where mushkin get's their RAM from so we can get some serious killer prices. Cut out the middle man and you got some cheap RAM!

BTW - YES it's true that mushkin don't manufactor their own memory; they do in fact purchase their memory from a large distributor... If only I knew which one!

?

I asked this question last time but I'm still wondering.

You can pickup a Generic 256 Meg stick of pc133 for $170, why bother paying twice the price?

IIRC, even if you can get them from the manufacturer of the memory, you can't select & test the memory that can actually guarantee 2-2-2 which is what Mushkin does (or at least that's what I remember reading).

My only answer to the generic ram vs. Muskin ram is that you get what you pay for and I haven't ever had generic ram that would run 2-2-2 @ 153bus like I have Mushkin. I know there are generic sticks that will run well but I think you would be hard pressed to find any manufacturer of generic ram that can run as fast as any good quality ram, that is why it is called generic, because it is lesser quality.

The stability also comes into play, it is a simple fact that all ram is not created equal, in other words all 128Mg sticks do not perform the same. Read Anand's memory comparison and you shall be enlightened about the stability and speed of quality ram.

No that's NOT what mushkin does... that "hand-picked" stuff is a big hoax. They just purchase the highest end memory from their distributor that simply are built to perform that well.

Yeah you think they have time to test all those RAM chips?

hand picked probably means someone stuck there hand in a bucket and pulled out the 'special stuff'

hehe BTW I know distributors who pick there hand picked ram that way

I've been to Mushkin's office. They're in Denver. They had some dude on roller blades cruising around (concrete loft flooring) and two labrador retrievers. Those were the only "labs" I saw. Other than that, a bunch of boxes, some desks and computers, an air pump to blow up their packaging, and other misc packing/accounting/shipping supplies. I didn't see anything that looked like it would serve as a test bed for RAM. That was at least 2 years ago however. Just my $0.02 US.

I am thinking about a 256mb rev2 dimm...does it provide the same superior CAS latency performance as the 128mb sticks? (2-2-2 @ >140mhz)
If so, I'm rather tempted to get one of those...it looks like they just released them. I probably should contact Mushkin regarding this.

My email should be in my profile but I will give it again, Doug's email. I do take paypal and it actually is my preferred method of payment. The 256 does provide the same latency as the 128 sticks but I am not sure if it will run over 150 @ 2-2-2 like the 128's. They are brand new and I have not had any yet myself. ETA is being pushed back to the 6th of Oct if that is not a problem for anyone because I want to turn this into a monthly thing rather then several times a month and that will allow people a little more time to prepare financially. The price could go down slightly on the 256Mg sticks but I do not really anticipate it, I think that we will have a larger volume then I expected is the only reason it might drop. As before refunds will be issued if the price is less then I gave for advanced payment.

Syber, I am not sure about the PC150 on the AMD boards. Has anyone used it yet? I will find out but I would say that Rev 1.5 or 2 would be lower on the latency and possibly faster since you are not going to hit 150 with a AMD board. The HSDRAM is not able to run at 2-2-2 even at 133 from what I understand so the latency is higher then the Rev2 or 1.5.

Well I am setting it in gold for placing the order on the 6th and it should go out either that day or on Monday unless they run out like last time. I wonder how come they had trouble filling a 50 stick order maybe the had to get more from their supplier. Finding their source would be a good idea but I don't care to pursue it myself. There is something to be said for Mushkin's warranty and I doubt you would get that if you went to their distributer. Perhaps but I prefer to stick with a lifetime warranty with good customer service that they give.

Anyhow they are usually speedy about shipment and I will be quick on the turn around as well. The email for paypal is jkbollin@adams.net . That way I don't get hit for the 1.9% on memory buys. Please include your shipping address and which type of memory you want. I will confirm payments to you within a day or two at the latest.

If you can't get in on this one there will be another at the end of the month so look for it then.

I hope that is all of everyone's questions.

Thanks
Doug

SOmeone suggested getting the ram from the supplyer and bypassing mushkin. I though this was a good idae so here is a list of some of the larger distributors in NOrth AMerica
Ingram Micro
Tech data
Meiresel
Supercom

THese are all i can think of off the top of my head. ALso to the best of my knowledge the rev. 2 rams use mosel chips so you may try contacting them and finding their distributors.

They have a sales office at
3910 North First Street
San Jose Ca 95134
phone: 408-433-6000

Their north American distributors are found here.
The link doesn't seem to work so goto http://www.moselvitelic.com/and clcik on sales.
