It's really sad to see them hopelessly brainwashed...
You really have to wonder about a God that makes it's people bow down and pray 5 times a day. I guess after centuries of that you end up with everyone so totally brainwashed they just can't help themselves.
When they get a chance to vent some of the repression they seem to go whacko.
Where does it say God told us to bow down and pray 5 times a day? The point of God sending Jesus was so that we can live our lives freely and not be condemned to hell for eating pork.
Not to turn this into a theological debate, but prostration to God has occured in civilizations before; Islam beleives that prophets have been sent to many other nations but over time their message has been corrupt. It is only reinstating that prostration to God must occur. It states specifically in the Quran that prayer is required (The exact mechanism of prayer is in the Sunnah, and to my knowledge, the process of prayer is universally accepted by all Muslims and is undisputedly 2,4,4,3,4 in the number of times you must bown down per prayer).
In Islam Jesus is not God, 1/2 God, Son of God, rather he is a messenger of God where "God" is the supreme omnipotent "being". There is no "original sin" so there is nothing instrinsically evil about humans, or rather than is nothing that makes us instrincally sinful that requires some greater "being" to be sacrificed for us.
Prohibition on pork exists as what god has stated. Ask Jews why they don't eat pork. That is simply because God said so. Ironically pork is one of the worst of the domesticated meats to eat, wheras lamb is one of th healthiest(but in terms of mass domestication there are not all that many...many 5 or so?). I'm not saying you'll die but if you compare fat content, levels of cholesteral, etc. Pork isn't that great. That isn't the excuse to not eat pork (ice cream tastes good and is bad for you but not banned) but rather it is reasons to hypothesize on perhaps why god prevented it. To me it is more of a test.
"Just don't eat it" Not that bad~ infact I'm so not used to it that it has an extremely strong smell to me that I can recognize; the stench of sasuage alone makes me want to vomit and whenever my roomate cooks it I have to open all the doors and fans to blow air out because I get lightheaded. If it is cloaked in a lot of spices and I can't smell it, if I eat it I will throw up. On several occaisons I have thrown up without realizing I ate pork mainly because a friend was unaware I could eat it and only later discovering that they used pork. So to me it is not hard (note: this is not described to be a justifacation that God was right, but rather that if you are not used to eating something abstaining from it is simple since your body is not accustomed to it)
In Islam you are not condemned to hell from the start, rather babies are born free of sin. It is your deeds and actions through life that will judge it. If you pray, if you fast, if you give charity, abstain from pork, and make the pilgramage are what act as "multipliers" for your deeds. Because a good deed (hasanah) is worth much more than a bad deed (sayehah) that going to heaven isn't all that difficult. In fact I would think its quite simple and doesn't require some radical change in who you are even in today's society.
So Islam doesn't have some "condemnation to hell" if you eat pork (it actually states that if you must eat it to survive, because there is nothing else, then you are allowed and God will forgive you providing it is a case of real merit, and not "man I don't like the chicken tonight, gimme a pork rib!") etc. It is all based on your actions and thus forms a meritocracy.
For those who say "Where does this come from?" It comes from the Quran which I beleive is the word of God The entire basis of the religion is on the book and the fact that it is God's true
uncorrupted words. For those who find it impossible to accept that, that is why it is faith There maybe reasons why I beleive it is the word of God, but ultimately they all take the backseat to faith~
Either way this seems very off topic in the thread
