Happens to me all the time. When my roommate gives me a funny look, I just call him a hippie. Its not that he actually is a hippie, its just that his hair is about 12" long, so it looks like he is a hippie. Last time we went to the store to pick up stuff for the room, he asked the girl behind the counter to put his order in my bag. She asked him if he was "enviromentally concious" since he wanted to save a extra plastic bag. I said yeah, he was, AND he can play a MEAN bongo drum. I didnt notice it when I said it, but there was a guy behind me at the time coming to talk to the cashier, guitar in hand and with even longer hair than my roommate. He, my roommate, and the cashier all gave me dirty looks...

I don't agree that anyone should do it but if there were crazy strict laws in place, all the weak people would leave and people who would be willing to live up to the law would move in...so in theory, it would improve the country...but at what cost? :Q

I'm not arguing that she shouldn't have to take off her veil, she should. But if she's applying for a driver's license, this most likely is her home. Just because she's a Muslim doesn't mean she can't be an American. >>

Wowow, she is 34 years old already? That must be a typo (her thinking was like a kid) or she did not go to school. Religion is religion, law is law. Everybody has to follow the law no matter what relegion he/she believes in. There is no exception !! She had mixed up both of them. If she has the exception, then everybody can start their own religion and start killing others. When they get caught, they can tell the judge that they were practicing their religion and it is "OK" for them to kill. She better goes back to school and get education.

anyways..for those of you that care like nefrodite to answer ur question....some people interpret the quran as requiring women to cover their faces. majority of the scholars would say only the hair and body should be covered and the face and hands can be open...obviously it is up to the person to uphold watever commandments they want, hence not everyone wears even just a scarf...also, to wear the veil would be a bigger sacrifice on the part of the woman who chooses to do so...

well i am certainly not embarrassed by the whole thing...a little disgusted by all the responses...but i would be embarassed if she had done something wrong or illegal or of the sort but she hasnt broken any law....

ummm she is abiding by the rules...thats y she is going through legal channels, in other words, through the court system, which is a right she has as an american. it is up to the judge to make a ruling. i think that is abiding by the rules. wat rule has she broken? none yet...

i think that makes a lot of sense....and that is what she is doing...very well put....
the judge can decide if her argument is valid, if it is, then she can take her photo like that. if not, then she will have to decide between taking off her veil for the photo and not having a license...

its not so hard people....we dont really need the many unclassy remarks....if u want to have an argument, then argue with valid points (as bomberman himself has often done by making logical arguments)...but if u want to write a bunch of crap, go for it, u got the right to do it....no one will tell u to go back to ur country and use swear words at you...

That is completely contrary to the spirit of our founding fathers, gogeeta. Our country is one that prides individualism and individual rights. You are YOU first, then your family, then your community, then your country. When a nation demands that it's citizens put nationality before individualism, you have totalitarianism. Nazis put their country and it's policy ahead of individual interests, not the other way around.

I've read about this before and what I don't understand is why the state does not just use a old photo of her before she converted to Islam ? Appearently this woman was a evanglist preacher before converting to Islam. Anyways in Cali you have the option to use your old photo you originally took on your new license I guess Florida's DMV doesn't work that way.

Excuse me? Muslims are required to cover THEIR HAIR not their ENTIRE FACE. For all you people like NFS4 saying you can't see her face, that is wrong. You can see her entire face the only thing that is covered up is her hair. You can make the face out like anybody else.
