Don't you hate it when people shove religion down your throat? I'm all for being open minded and respect of other peoples opinions and beliefs, and I will sit down and listen to anyone that is willing to talk about whatever, but I hate it when people shove their religion down your throat like converting you will gain them some extra 'brownie points' in heaven or whatever they belive in. Why do they do this, why do they feel that I would be better off beliveing in there religion and that I will instantly be happier for it?

I respect their views on God, why cannot they respect mine?

So far, it seems like the majority of religious folks that I've come in contact with have always been forceful when it comes to religion. At times, it seems like they're worse than Democrats.

But neither of them are quite as annoying as Republicans!

It makes no sense though. I don't run around the streets yelling "God doesn't exist, you're fools, you're wasting your time". I don't try and convert them over to atheism for the extra brownie points or commission, so why must they? Not a God flaming post, just a curious one

on another note, what's up with the muslim extremists? they say we are infidels and are going to hell... okay... so, what, is it their job to expediate that process? we're already going to hell, that's not enough for them? they have to make us suffer here on earth?

"But neither of them are quite as annoying as Republicans! "

I would amend that slightly to read right-wing Republicans!

So..you're saying that you can identify all the religious people you come in contact with, whether they express their beliefs or not?

I'm Roman Catholic, but I don't go 'forcing my beliefs' on others..if it comes up, I'll talk about it..but I'm not going around shoving it at people.

*breaks out the marshmallows to toast..soon*
ROFLMFAO....gonna try not to stoke the fire too much

So..you're saying that you can identify all the religious people you come in contact with, whether they express their beliefs or not?
Yes and no. I will talk to them, I will listen and understand (or try to) their reasoning of things, whether it be atheism, cathloism, hindu, satanic (not so much if possible, in fact at all), and I will take it in and make a judgement based on it. I don't identify as such, but understand where they are coming from, I would expect the same in return though. Is that too much to ask? I means some of these people sybscribe to their religions so much that they are scared to even contenplate the possible existence of another, or no god at all, for fear that they will change their mind. But with this is mind, why do they feel it is neccesary to throw it all at you and expect you to become one with them and their religions, then get angry when you don't? I am open minded enough to contemplate the possible exitence of different Dimensions, Aliens, Existence through the eye of a Black hole, God etc, but cannot understand this. Please help me solve this.

oh, and everman needs that fire for his marshmelows

It's like the gym. If you convince a friend to join you get an extra month on your membership. In their case, they probably get an extra millenium in heaven.

Hahahahahaha, thats probably true. But I don't want a membership, or else I would have had it already.

I mean some of these people subscribe to their religions so much that they are scared to even contenplate the possible existence of another, or no god at all, for fear that they will change their mind

Only Religious Folk that give me a hard time are my grandparents ... pretty much everybody else respects my Opinions as I respect Theirs.

According to your beliefs those who have a different opinion are not going to face anything after death that you won't. No reason to convince others. According to Christianity those with different beliefs will spend eternity suffering. So the reason all Christians should share their faith (and some do it with a bit too much force) is to help others, not to increase membership or get any bonus in heaven (though the big reason Jehova's Witnesses go door to door is to earn bonus points and increase their position).

Think of it this way. The entire world somehow contracts AIDS. You have the cure and its simple and 100% effective. Others tell you they hare content with their fate. Would you try to pursuad them otherwise? I'm sure most people would at least try to convince their loved ones to take the cure (and often time 'shoving it down their throat'). Others would probably care about strangers enough to offer it to them unsoliceted. I'm sure there would be some doing it just for their own self important reasons. Hope that helps explain it. For most people, its not about them, its about you. Yeah, a little hard to understand, but talk to some of the people who eventually gave in to the pressure and they will tell you life IS different.

A Christian is called to share the gospel, not beat you over the head with it.

However, if you were living in Saudia Arabia, and complained that Islam is being shoved down your throat, your throat would be cut open.

Freedom! of speech! For Everyone!
