MW2 - Tar-21 vs M16

First of all the scar-h is my favorite gun, even though ive been seeing its limitations lately, as far as mag size, so im trying out new weapons

Alot of forums are raving about the Tar-21 as the best gun and say its better for example than the scar-h cause of its bigger mag and higher firerate but if thats the case the the m16 should be better than the Tar-21 on paper at least.

Lets review the stats

Tar-21: much lower accuracy, identical damage, range and mobility, slower firerate

M16: much higher accuracy, identical damage, range and mobility higher firerate

So in theory in this game the m16 has the same damage and higher firerate which would mean it kills faster given you have the same setup and its also more accurate.

The M16 should be the superior weapon and the only argument i could think of for anyone using the tar over the m16 is they dont like 3 bullet burst weapons.

What do you guys think

m16 with stopping power pro = best weapon in the game, period.

first 2 bullets hit you torse or higher = dead.

The TAR-21 takes the cake simply because it is full-auto. Yea, the M16 may push out the first 3 rounds quicker, but what about the next 3? Burst weapons in CQB are terrible.

Honestly I think the UMP45 is the best.

I think it's mentioned approximately every other page on the official MW2 thread. Those charts are meaningless and don't actually reflect in-game stats. You'd be better off just trying them yourself and seeing how you do. If you want to talk about actual stats rather than made-up ones, look here.

Keep at it and you'll love the m16. That's really all I used in COD4 so I'm already used to the 3 shot burst.

There's no dmg difference between the M16 & the FAMAS, yet the FAMAS is more common thanks to its availability at lower levels. This increases your likelihood of snagging bullets from a corpse, hence why I like to use the FAMAS over the M16.

Wow - you don't have an informed opinion. You have a general opinion that you feel the need to share whenever something comes up about the game.

It takes enough skill to aim it. Honestly, saying someone is a "nub" for using an assault rifle is kind of silly. If they only used something like the RPD or 1887s pre-nerf, then yes, they are noobs. I do better than 95% of the people I play with or against and I use the lowest damage rifle out there (silenced ACR). Weapons are outclassed in this game by tactical advantage 9/10 times.

I switch back and forth between both. I have classes set up for each weapon category, the M16 falls in the just messing around one.

My AR class is TAR-21 w/ silencer, Slight of Hand Pro, Stopping Power Pro, and Ninja Pro.

Medium to close range it's brutal, and it can still mow people down at far ranges but you just have to control your trigger finger, because it still bounces around more than the other ARs.

The M16 is a good weapon, but I'm not used to the 3 round burst yet so close range I'm gonna get raped most of the time.

How is using the RPD considered noobish? You're slow as hell with it and a pretty big target.

I use the M-16 with noob tube and danger close, it's great. may be noob but I use it because it's fun as hell lol. Try it. of course I play ground war so people like to bunch up and I get plenty of kills that way.

Nothing wrong with using the grenade launcher. Especially on maps like...fuck what's it called, the really big one with the bunker in the center. People like to camp in the bunker. Danger close + grenades + M203 = win

I've been playing with the M16 and while it's a good weapon, I too am not used to the burst fire. Need to work on my trigger action, same goes with pistols. I'd love to be able to run a pistol + knife in my stealth class, but I suckage with pistols right now
