But retail has games, i think Still a nice price though

I wouldn't be buying a sound card for the games.

Well then buy it because it's the best gaming card you can get.

I wouldn't be buying it as a gaming card, as it's got so much more to offer to musicians. Using it for games would be just a nice extra.

One thing I just dont understand. Why a sound card is so expensive? Even CPU price is falling down so dramamtically. A big main board with many different controller chips is only $100, more or less.

I guess we all pay premium price for sound cards to creative. What do u guys think?

24/96kHz recording, soundfonts, etc. If you're looking for just a gaming sound card, then yes, this is fairly expensive, but at least you're not looking at the Audigy 2 ex platinum!

Is this card worth it. I just need to do some recording and my old Montego 2 Quadzilla (Vortex 2) has to much static on it. Do you guys think it is the Sound Card or Mic. HELP!!!!!!!!!

My last sc was the SB Live and that was 2 years ago. I spent 85 bucks 4 months ago for the Audigy 2 and never once turn back. If you're upgrading sc often, you might not want to have this card. Wait for the price to drop further.

No.
Not true. Creative doesn't officially support it, but they also say it works. The Live! Drive works perfectly fine with this card. You just won't get the front panel FireWare jack. I have a Live! Drive II and prefer it because it has full-size MIDI I/O jacks on it, unlike the newer ones that use the mini-DIN adapters.

What are the real differences between the Audigy and the Audigy 2? I have a pair of Klipsch 2.1's and I am looking for something that will make them sound their best

do you guys think this will work with the Yamaha's from a hot deal a while ago, I am not at home right now so i don't know the model number. I have a santa cruz, but it conflicts with the LEADTEK WINFAST "DELUXE" TV2000XP card i have ( i use the digital out)

They have entirely different sound processing systems.

However: As big of a fan as I am of the Audigy 2, I'm not sure it's worth the investment for a 2.1 system. These cards are optimized to deliver surround sound. If you think you may upgrade speakers soon, then by all means get this. But for those 2.1's, I'm not sure youc ould justify the $70 or $80 expense.

Can you please let me know how did you get it to work?? I can't get it to work for the life of me. I'm using a Live Drive IR with the Audigy 2

Before I tried it, I found an article/review which referred to Creative stating that as long as you have the SB_EXT header on your card, it should work just fine but wasn't a supported configuration. I just plugged it in and it worked, no problem.

Sorry, I know that won't help you. Did you connect the power to your Live Drive? You've got to do that also, it uses a floppy-style connector for power.

The Audigy 2 doubles the sampling rate/supported digital frequency to 192k and I think it also has ASIO 2.0 support. Unless you're using your Audigy 2 as an input device for multi-track recording software such as Cubase or Sonar XL 2.2, you'll never know the difference.
