MX1000 vs MX700

I can't seem to find a weight comparison between the MX1000 and MX700. I currently have an MX700 but it's so heavy it's killing my right arm (I do a lot of gaming). I need something MUCH lighter than my MX700, but I'm not going back to an MS mouse. Anyone know what the weight difference is...if anything?

Thanks

I have both and can't personally feel any weight difference. Although I do prefer the MX1000 between the two, it does seem lighter while gaming and it fits better in my hand.

If weight is that important you may need to go with a MX500.

If not the MX1000 may feel a little lighter as it fits your hand better, and it is truly an excellent mouse.

I found some info, the MX1000 is only a few grams lighter, and that won't do if I want to be able to lift my freaking right arm every again. Looks like the best bet is the MX510 with the internal weight removed.....that should do the trick.

Thanks for the replies.

I agree. I don't understand all these people complaining about the weight of the MX1000. I am skinny as hell, and definately not stronger than the average dude, and the MX1000 isn't heavy at all to me. I like it just the way it is.

Or how about just work your arm/wrist with a 5-pound dumbbell? You're either really weak or gaming for an unhealthy amount of hours on end...how about taking a break every once and awhile?

I also have both.

I feel that the MX1000 is indescribly better. The tracking on it is so ridiculously better than the MX700. I constantly had the problem that on certain surfaces the MX700 would "lose" its place and go wild for a few seconds. I know that this was not just my MX700, because I have about 6 of them (for family members and business). The MX1000 is also much more sensitive and is FAR better for gaming. Also the battery life on the MX700 was atrocious. My MX1000 literally stays on for days and days and still has full battery.

The MX1000 was definitely the best money I've ever spent on a mouse.

I found them to be about the same weight as well. I agree that these wireless mice are still too heavy for games. I should have my MX510 shortly.

For young people that don't game in clans for 2-4 hours/night, yea, it's not a problem. I'm 41, well built and I can probably bench press two of you stacked dood. It's called REPETITIVE STRESS INJURY and it's quite common. It has NOTHING to do with strength! I do about 8 hours of computer use at work, then an hour at home and 2-4 hours of gaming. After 10 years of doing this, you're tendons/joints simple get abused. Pushing around a mouse of the weight of the MX700 has taken it's toll on me over the past year.

For as many intelligent members there are on these forums, it never seems to fail that a moron jumps in with worthless comments. If you don't have anything worthwhile to contribute, then STFU please or perhaps we can meet and I'll show you how "weak" I am, lmao.

replace the akline batteries with lithium ion batteries. that will make a noticable difference in weight and is the only reason the mx1000 is lighter (try holding 4 akline bat's and then 4 lithium bats, you notice the weight differnce real quick).

might get expensive since i don't believe lithiums are rechargable yet. if weight is a major concern, yes, the mx1000 is noticably lighter. its still heavier then wired mice, but possibely the lightest wireless optical mouse.

What exactly are you doing with this mouse??? Pinky curls?

Do you also have problems when lifting a heavy 12 oz. soda all the way up to your face? Sorry.....but I couldn't help myself here.

wireless mice will be heavier than corded mice, because of the batteries. but really- you get sore from using a mouse? try gaming more, to get into shape.

Yeah..because everyone who can handle an mx700 just fine games in clans 2-4 hours a night...

Repetitve stress injury from moving a slightly heavier mouse around? WTF? I could understand typing a sh!tload..but simply moving the mouse around..how does create stress injury?

Considering your reaction, you must be a geek and have incredibly low self-esteem? Correct? I mean, who honestly says "then STFU please or perhaps we can meet and I'll show you how "weak" I am, lmao." on an internet message board and isn't a fvcking loser. With that immensely physical job and all of that strenuous gaming, how do you find the time to lift weights?

Ok, I have both an MX700 and an MX1000, and have also noticed the first twinges of RSI, and I can say its almost certainly not a weight issue. The weight makes very little difference, its almost always poor posture thats really causing the problem. I actually had more problems at work with my lightweight corded mouse than at home with my MX700. Once I figured out what exactly in my posture was killing my wrists and corrected it, I've been doing fine on both types of mice.

Personal preference leads some to prefer lighter mice, and thats completely valid, but for RSI don't think a lighter mouse will suddenly fix things. It may make things slightly better, but you need to change how your hold your wrists or you'll continue having problems eventually. The most important thing seems to be holding your wrists as close to straight as possible. I'd recommend getting some wrist splints and wearing them around for a week or so to see exactly where you're bending your wrists too much (yes, you'll look like a nerd wearing them, but the health of your wrists is worth it).

Heh, but seriously.... As far as RSI goes, it has much less to do with weight, than with ergonomics.

If this problem applies to you, picking a mouse based on weight is far less important than how it's shape relates to your"condition". It's the shape of the mouse and the angles which you are forced to hold it which will cause you to either love or hate it. In my opinion a few ounces, give or take, should be the least of your concern, and what's great for one person may seem excruciating to another.

But don't try and denegrate a particular mouse simply because you have a condition that precludes you from using it.

Edit: Guess I should have read the post before mine....he pretty much said it all.
