Starting today BestBuy B&M has the Logitech MX510 avail w/ $10 instant rebate.
Last time I checked Logitech did not have info at their web site, but just checked & they do:
MX510

Supposed to a good gaming mouse,
This revolutionary 800-dpi sensor now captures an incredible 5.8 megapixels every second and is able to track up to 15 G's of acceleration.

This is one of the slickist mice I have seen. Itried to get one two weeks apo & they were OOS.
Hopefully they will have some in because of the ad in Sunday's paper.

Is this the marble-red finish only a limited thing or is this permanent?

Oh noes! Should I buy this mouse to replace my MX310? It looks so sexy with its red marble finish, yet I can't justify paying 40 bucks for a new mouse... Decisions decisions...

yeah isn't that funny? I actually have one and on the box there are HUGE typos

It talks about the mouse being wireless and having a base... yep right on the box... they didn't do much proofreading

this is a wired mouse. I replaced a worn out mx500

I saw one, the red makes it look too fugly.
Also the 800 dpi and 5.8 mp isnt too much of a difference to switch from my current mx500 on my main pc and my boomslang 2100 on my gaming pc.
If you want high dpi and mp, look into the the razer viper 1000dpi optical coming this month, although that is also fugly.

Anyone used both the MX500 and MX510? I have a 500 and I am wondering how much better these things are...I have a feeling it is probably not noticeable.

Nice find!

I just got back from Best Buy and it sure is pretty! Of course, not pretty enough to replace my MX310.

is the 510 supposed to replace the 500? shouldn't this mean the 500 will go on clearance soon?

Well, with this deal being at Best Buy...just buy it and try it! Not impressed?...return it. (this is of course assuming you have a BB close to you).

Not exactly too enamored by the fake red marble finish. I guess some people like it, but it probably won't go with most people's desktops.

I keep wanting to get one of these, but I'm hesitant because I use a KVM (belkin). The kvm only lets me use default mouse drivers, so no "mouseware" or any of that stuff. How does this thing work on default windows drivers...can you program the extra buttons in windows?

I may wind up getting this or a MX500 anyway...my trackball is starting to get a little long in the tooth.

My MX500 works great on default windows drivers. I actually prefer it because in Counter-Strike, if I use the mouseware, I can't use my mouse4 and mouse5 buttons...I'm not sure if I'm the only one who has had this problem, but I have seen no gain in using the mouseware.

Damnit I bought it a couple of days ago, and of course they go on sale! I would just return it and buy another....but my BB isn't that close so it's not really worth it

It really is a great mouse though. I also use the default win drivers.

I guess a more detailed question would be: could I program one of the extra buttons to be, say alt+w on the default drivers. reason I ask is I have shortcuts to various functions in cad and modelling programs set up like that, and it'd be nice to transfer some of that functionality to the mouse...

To be honest with you I don't know for sure Dubb, but I don't think you can on default windows drivers...you probably would have to use the mouseware for something like that. If no one else knows for sure, I'll let you know when I get home in about an hour.
