explain to him what frequency response is
or tell him to stop following his friends off a cliff.

So this is what our generation of parents are doing to our kids? Why would an eleven year old even ask for $300 headphones for. I'm 100% sure he knows how expensive they are.
I know you're just yankin' chain... but just in case someone takes the post seriously, the HD 800's really need a dedicated headphone amp. Hell, my 650's do...
I'm not sure what people say about them, but the reality is they are perfectly find for a bass-forward can. The problem is they cost way too much for their performance. There are far better performing options for the money.
If they cost half that ($100 - ~$150), they would be great choices.
He won't earn enough in one day to buy them...but delayed gratification is good for the soul...
Personally I think it's much harder to teach kids simple life's lessons nowadays. There are multiple powerful influences pulling them in every which direction, including Dr. Dre who is a phony moneygrabber with shoddy worthless products.

Are these, like, those Nick Cannon headphones or something?
WERD DAWG I CANNOT FOR THE LIFE OF ME FIGURE OUT HOW HATS WORK.
Shit, I was almost 20 when I got my first cell phone.Buy him some SkullCandy headphones instead. Not as expensive as Beatz, but still cool none-the-less.
I always hated having friends that had all the latest gadgets, it seemed like their parents bought them everything. I was lucky if I got 2 things off of my Christmas list.
Back when everyone was getting their first cellphones, my mom was still giving me quarters to use payphones or told me to go to the office if I needed to call. I was 15 when I got my first cellphone....everyone else was on their second or third.
Back then it was the Motorola Razr that was hot and everyone had one. I had some shitty non-flip phone.
It isn't the sound, it is about dumb 6th graders and brand. I have athm50s that he even acknowledges sound "awesome" but they are not beatz.
When I say knock offs I am referring to the counterfeit s that are all online that look really close
I got a set of 650 myself. Which amp(s) do you drive your 650 with? They don't make them anymore, but I use a Gilmore V2 to drive the big cans in my collection.
You should chagnge your name from baked to deaf.
Hey now. I'm using a candybar style Nokia even today. I don't consider it shitty.I had some shitty non-flip phone.
Tell your eleven year old to get a job and pay for his own head phones.
I must live in some f'd up alternate universe.
If my 11 year old kid asked me for 300 dollar head phones, I would have to walk into another room and finish laughing before I could come back in and tell him to get the money himself.
Holy crap. Seriously? He already carrying around a smart phone with an $70 a month plan too?
