Am I the only one that is annoyed by people using a z at the end? Instead of calling them Beats (which is what they are) they type Beatz.

But I would probably buy a pair if they were cheaper. They are nice looking. Too expensive no matter how good they are or arent for me however.

I'd be more annoyed with Beets...

Chris Brown announced he's releasing his own version of Beats:

* I apologize. I'm really really sorry. I apologize unreservedly. I offer a complete and utter retraction. The imputation was totally without basis in fact, and was in no way fair comment, and was motivated purely by malice, and I deeply regret any distress that my comments may have caused you or your family, and I hereby undertake not to repeat any such slander at any time in the future.

They were on sale earlier this week at Nordstrom. The Beats solo HD was $89.99 (From $179.99) and the Studios HD were $149.99 (From 299.99) by price matching to Staples.
Staples was sold out but most of the customer service reps at Nordstrom didn't even bother to check and price matched anyway. I got me a pair of the Studios $149.99 + tax with free shipping. They shipped today. Other people went to the store to pricematch, I pricematched over the phone.
Staples no longer sells Beats headphones and took all the Beats headphones off their website today so it's impossible to do the pricematching now.

Here goes proof of the deal from another person:

Since beats and monster are no longer partners, Staples had their whole beats inventory on clearance.

The Beats solo was $89.99 (From $179.99) and the Studios were $149.99 (From 299.99). Of course its sold out on staples and have been out of stock for days.

However your local nordstrom will price match them even though they are out of stock and are the older beats.

Go there have the staples site on your phone and tell them you want to PM Staples. They will either do it directly or get manager to do it. The colors dont matter either.

Bestbuy, Radioshack, Office Depot all wont pm because its OOS and the fact that they are the older on staples site, the models numbers dont match. The people at nordstrom dont care about none of that. They just look to see price.

Was able to pick up a pair of red studios for my son today with no problems.

Got mine tuesday afternoon. Just opened them and they sound good. Better than the Beats Non-HD Solo joints I had before.

I'm mad I only bought one pair. I could have flipped them for $$$$ but I thought they would be trash like them other pair I had.

I'm pleasantly surprised.

These shits BANG!

Maybe instead load him up with knowledge so he can drop bombs on his friends about how they overpaid for their headphones?

100% sure you were popular in school...

100% sure that's why you've got the 10%er job you do now

Beatz Beatz Beatz Beatz Beatz Beatz Beatz ;P

It's that or iBeats or X-Beats(treme) or something. Gotta add in a token marketing letter. I actually thought it was Beatz...IMO they would probably sell better to their target market. And I don't mean that to be [specifically] condescending; I literally think that 'Beats' probably looks less 'cool' to kids.

P.S. I like your name. I saw those dudes like twelve years ago when Height of Callousness came out. Too bad their recent album kind of sucks.

To anyone actually eyeing this...I would suggest trying some cheaper, more respected headphones first. Then if you are really, honestly not satisfied, get the Beats and either a) be satisfied by their heavy bass and empty top end or b) be very regretful. Either way, you've wasted little money on the first pair.

I'm looking for something else to recommend and struggling...PortaPro's are almost the same price as those AKG's and IMO not comparable. Grados never go on sale (but are still priced well at ~70-80 for SR-60i's). I'm not a big fan of lower end Sennheisers.

There's a LOT out there in the <$100 headphone range. Just encouraging some consumer research, is all...

OOS on everything but the earbuds.

lol sheesh, when I posted it they were still in stock. It must have also been posted on slickdeals. Actually, I'm almost 100% sure techbargains got it from slickdeals. slickdeals knows about a sale before the store even knows.

Beats aren't about sound quality, they are about being "Beats". This was for the OP's kid. People like certain brands. Some guy may buy $100 or more jeans. I dont, but whatever. I guess since I dont have kids I think its alright to spoil them. I remember getting practical versions of what I wanted instead of what I actually asked for when I was a kid. It sucked.

They actually sound pretty good though. If you can get the Studio versions for $149, it's a steal!

I'm sure they sound fine. I bought some Beyerdynamic Custom Pro Ones and they have a slider on the cans that can give you a "Beats" mode, and its cool enough. I can see why people would like the sound.

I think maybe the misperception is that all headphones endorsed by 'audiophile' types are flat response studio monitors.

There are basically two types of headphones: monitors (or those like monitors...the AKG's I used as a cheap example are pretty flat) and those that are intentionally EQ'd. You can buy high quality, fairly accurate headphones with extra emphasis in the typical bass and/or treble regions.

Heck, I've heard some criticize the newer 'i' model Grados for being too bass-heavy. I have not heard the 'high end' Beats, but I would wager a lot of money (ok...the money that I have...not a lot of money) that the $79 SR60i's are sonically superior.

Yeah, there's a lot of personal preference, but I can see from the concrete benchmarks of the Beats (frequency response graphs) that they...would not be my preference. Nor anyone's, if they listen to music that isn't horrifyingly compressed (I don't think you can compress music enough to lop multiple Khz off the top).

edit: as much as I hate to ever recommend Sony, if you really like Beats...you probably actually want some Sonys.

I ended up getting my son a set for Christmas. He hugged me for the first time in a year.

Thanks Dr. Dre! Seriously though, I know what all the people say, but they're actually some damn fine headphones. They're very comfortable and sound pretty decent for everyday listening.

Hahahaha, who says you can't buy love?

LOL. Remind of of the pic of a girl with the legs crossed then opened after a guy with a diamond popped out. Money talks indeed.

If I have $300 to burn, I would rather get the V Moda M-100.

Yes indeed. I printed this page out on our lazer printer along with the instruction guide to our parametric equaliser and software licences. The colour looks off though for some strange reason.

He already has some decent entry level Sennheisers but all his friends talk about Beatz. I will not waste money on them so I am wondering how are the knock off's in comparison? does anyone here have a set?

Tell him if he wants a Pair he needs to earn money for it selling newspapers, cutting lawns etc.. Show him the value of money and a work ethic to boot.

It must suck being a parent these days. When I was 11, I was happy and excited about getting some comic books and some Xmen cards.

These days, its several hundred dollar ipods, phones, tablets and accessories. Marketing and brainwashing has come a long way. If you don't buy it, your kid is either disenfranchised or they hate your ass as they watch a lot of their friends enjoy and talk about their expensive toys.

Selling newspapers...so in today's world that'll net him what? $5 a month?
