My $300 computer

I just bought this Refurbished Emachines T3120 with an refurbished 19 inch monitor. did i get a good deal? It was $299.99+tax.

Sempron 3100+ Palermo 64-bit
512 DDR400 RAM
100 GB 7200rpm hd
DVD/CD-RW Combo
Geforce 6100 128 MB (integrated)
Ball mouse, multimedia keyboard, speakers

19" IBM G97 CRT monitor

Good deal or not?

Meh... for $300 you couldn't have done much better. Emachines are hardly upgradable however. You could have built a slightly better rig yourself for under $500 and it would have been upgradable. Welcome to the forums!

I'm not sure if a used dell from ebay might be better somewhere. In anycase i realized how little my current computer is worth :\ not worth reselling! (sad how prices fall over 6 years...)

It does look like a reasonable deal though. At that price you *might* have wanted to look for messed up deals at fatwallet or at hot deals forums where a company just messed up discounts and coupons. I dont know if you couldnt have found something better.

Since you got a decent monitor in the deal, I can't see how anyone could call it a less than very good deal.

dump the CRT guy, get an LCD, don't live yesterday's dreams. back in 1999, we all died seeing the laptop displays and cried for the 19" monitors.

today, 19" monitors have almost become standard for typical PC users, but CRT... get an LCD, guy!

Well, all I had was $300 and besides, the currency was canadian so i couldn'd find any other decent $300 computer.
well if you guys had 300 bucks to buid a computer, what would you put in it

Yes, that's definitely a good deal, if the $300 included the 19" IBM monitor. Fire, alot of us gamers still use 19" CRT's, and wouldn't use an LCD for anything, besides maybe web browsing.

Give it a rest with the LCD talk. My 19" CRT rocks any LCD. I wouldn't mind having one, but they are in no way superior (yet) to CRTs. Color and response rate are still very much better in CRTs. Maybe five years from now they will solve those deficiencies. Until then it doesn't matter which technology you choose. I may very well have a high-end LCD in the next year or two, but it's not because they are better. It will be because they are slim, weigh less, consume less power and put off less heat. It won't be because they are equal to the CRT in picture quality... cuz they're not.

Ok. This a *little!* This is obviously a budget pc. How much would it cost you for a lcd 19"? About 200 dollars. There goes the budget...Dont be such a jerk because he's going budget. Besides, if you have the space, there are advantages to CRT. Well, ehh...They dont get monitor lag =-) And they're stronger in the front (Lost a level? Have the restart? Well! I learned my screen didnt break when i through a pair of scissors at it ^_^ [Old screen])
