My 7800gt and horizontal sync issues.

Hey all:

Well first ill post my specs:

Athy X2 3800+
asrock 939dual sata2 mobo
1 gig of generic infinion ddr400 ram
soundblaster live X-gamer
1x cdrw and 1x dvdrw
1 sata 200gb maxtor diamondmax
1 pata 40gb fugitsu
350w antec PSU (trueblue i think. Has 21A on +12)

This is a brand new system (except for ram/PSU/soundcard)and Im having an issue in games where it seems like a case of V-sync off but when i noticed it i turned V-sync on and im still getting horizontal tearing onscreen like the top half of the screen is moving faster then the bottom. It kinda looks like it breaks up in 3 places onscreen. The monitor im using is a samsung e90f+ 19 inch CRT running at 1280x1024 at a refresh rate of 75. And i can tell its locking the FPS to the refresh rate cuz all games are locked at 75FPS.

I have:

Downloaded latest drivers for videocard/athy x2/sound card/mobo/im running SP2 (it did the same thing on SP1).

I even put my old TI4400 in and its still doing this horizontal cutting so im being lead to believe its not a video card issue as the 4400 was working like a dream before i removed it.

I tried to take a screenshot of whats goin on but all screenshots come out fine. And all the games run fast except for this issue which happends during movement.....if im standing still its all fine.

I even pulled out a stick of memory to run single channel as i read places that this was giving issues...no love.

Anyone have any advice i can try?

Try messing with individual game settings.... for example, turn off AA and see if it still happens. Then AF. Then other settings lowered. etc, etc. Also, you mentioned grabbing the "latest" drivers. Some people have had problems with them. You may want to roll back to a previous driver (maybe a 7x.xx).

Ya i tried different settings in all my games:

Farcry
Halflife 2
Doom 3
RTCW
World of warcraft

And i have tried the 7x.xx series of drivers for my card and same issue.

Try disabling some drains on power, 2cd hard drive, opticals, fans etc and see what happens.
