Looking forward to seeing how your new chip performs! Can you list some power consumption numbers and temps as well for your overclock? I'm considering getting one of these as well over my 8120 if you're happy with it. I think if my rig can handle bulldozer it will be fine, but I want to be sure.

I'm interested in trying this on my own machine but do you have a more direct link.

That just takes you to the general forum!

I was using "DefenderX' ICC+OpenMP Dolphin Builds" but they're discontinued now. If I were to pick another build to use, I'd probably go with Lectrode's builds because although they're a few weeks out of date, they seem to have optimizations for both AMD and Intel.

He has "regular" and "ICC optimized" builds, I would definitely suggest trying both on your AMD systems to make sure the ICC builds won't run any slower on Bulldozer.

Looking forward to your impressions, I'm probably going to wait for the last am3+ chip as the final upgrade to this rig before it goes into workstation duty.

I'm not really running into anything the 8150 cant do for my needs, but the upgrade itch may get me in early/mid 2013. For that matter I'm not really pushing the current 6 cores and 16 GB of ram in my Linux workstation either.. Maybe I'll spin up a full time minecraft server for my son and his friends.

Cool benchmark and a nice change from cinebench.

Here are my numbers at 4 Ghz

From the results I've seen on the site SB-E chips are in the 8-10min range.

This benchmark like most of the other rendering ones cares more about core count than IPC.

I placed 215 in that list lol.

And the best part #1 spot is owned by a 64 core AMD opteron server.

In fact the top 5 scores are all AMD

Who could had guessed a Dualcore Core i3 would have the same throughput like a Q6600?

Makaveli: My scores for Maxwell render on the 8150@4.6Ghz are:
Time: 14m11s
SL 14
Benchmark 325.7

Suffice it to say your I7 970 is MUCH faster.

I'll run the same teste at the same speed for the 8350 when it comes in.

Will do. As mentioned above, I ran it on the Bulldozer 8150 @ 4.6Ghz and got 14m11s;SL 14; Benchmark 325.7.

Hopefully the Vishera 8350 @ 4.6 Ghz will be better.

Great, thanks. Wish more users benchmarked Maxwell since it scales well with cores and ipc and it isn't built with intels tools and compilers like Cinebench. Now we need a benchmark from the folks of V-ray.

Your score is very good I was scrolling down the chart and this BD score is the first on the list.

How much of an improvement are we expecting on this one with piledriver?

in the 10-20% range or less?

I'm actually #373 on the list with a score of 325.7. Surely the PileDriver will be higher.

WOW! Just got the 8350 from Newegg and installed it over lunch. Back to work. Going to let it run stock and then run benchies tonight. 1 example. Bulldozer 8150 stock Aida64 CPU Queen 31,900 8350 stock 36,161. Gotta get back to work from lunch break. Initial impression? AMD got it right.

Thanks to Daveburt and keithlm from XS we can see 8350 in that list . At stock 4Ghz it scores 311pts and at 4.8Ghz it scores ~365pts (keithlm's results). IB 8T @ 4.5Ghz scores 390pts,so Vishera is very competitive in this workload. Versus Bulldozer,it's around 7% faster at the same clock.

I'll run mine at stock when I get home from work and upload the results and post.

When I installed my A8-5600k and reinstalled windows 7, I noticed how much snappier it felt compared to my Llano and FX 6100 (even on a fresh install). I know the most recent chipset drivers are supposed to boost transfer speeds as well but I can honestly say that it now feels as fast as my Intel system on a real world perspective. When it boots to Windows 7 the windows flag doesn't even complete anymore. That never happened on any AMD system I built or owned! Only my Intel systems were able to boot that fast. Now my AMD system actually boots faster than my i7.

Your agility SSD boots faster than your vertex 4?

And what is the age difference between the installs?

wouldn't you need a fresh install on both machines to make a valid comparison?

Vertex 4 performance is all over the board for boot times it seems.

These were fresh installs.

I wasn't really trying to make a comparison. It just boots faster and I really have no clue why since the CPU is slower. It's gotta be the drivers. This Asrock board posts stupidly fast too.

OK, after a little playing around, this chip need a little more voltage (1.44) but runs very cool and is rock solid at 4.67 Ghz (23 x 203).
At that speed, Cinebench 11.5 scores CPU 8.01; OpenGL 58.95
Maxwell Render 13m13s score 351.98

BTW, I upgraded to Windows 8 to take advantage of any improvements in the OS.

Quick impression after very brief testing is that it runs cooler and is a little snappier than the 8150.

Finally, attention to all the readers. I will be selling the 8150. It is a retail cpu with the stock cooler in the tin. Haven't decided a price yet but I want to sell on this forum first.
