My 8800GTS came today!

YAY I got my 8800GTS!! Funny thing is...I bought a regular non-overclocked GTS...and if you look at the clocks in NV control panel, it's that of the 8800GTS Superclocked!! OMG! Did I get the best deal or what!? Anyways, just a first run @ my 24/7 CPU speed. Will overclock in the weeks to come! VERY HAPPY!!

Thanks but something is up with my windows media player 10! Messed up colors and/or black and white pictures. All the other players work fine tho. Weird. Maybe I'll reinstall WMP or something. Hopefully that will fix it!

Get the 160.02 drivers for that bad boy

That's what I did and everything is awesome, including video playback. And if you're using Vista, try the 165.01's.

i have 160.03's on here. reinstalling WMP didn't work. What the dillio?

Seems like your card is unstable at those clock speeds. Get the nVidia control panel or Rivatuner and turn it back to stock speeds...see if you get any more problems then

ok i tried running it to 500/800, but still no go. Maybe its a codec problem, but i reinstalled everything! man this sucks, stupid WMP! My GTS came running at 576/850 tho. That's the factory stock! lol lucky me!

If WMP is the only program that has issues, use something else...like VLC or XMPlay

yea media player classic and all the other players work, but for some reason my classic gives me a black screen when i go full screen! it did it with the x1900xt too, so it's not the card.

ok screw it. ima just go with BSPlayer until i reformat next month! thanks for everyone's suggestions! after so many years with ATI, I finally jumped over to nVIDIA and I can say it was the best move every, save the very minor video playback!

I also had some problems with video playback. It's not the drivers, it's not the hardware. It's software limitations. Play with the overlay/vmr settings in Media Player.

My people turn purple if I adjust the brightness in windows media player. Some formats anyway...

And yes I think my E6700 @3.33-3.5GHz is majorly bottlenecking my whole system!

but congrats on a factory overclock saves you the trouble!

I just got the same 8800 GTS you ordered (640-P2-N821-AR) the day after you did. Mine was clocked at 576/850 as well, but it locks up every once in a while. What's the point of a factory overclock on a piece of hardware that can't handle it, even if it is free?
