My 9500 Softmod

Dang, this is sweet.

I softmodded my Sapphire 9500NP before and got 15k 3dmarks and was content. Last night I decided to overclock it a bit. Using W1zzard Cat 3.7 drivers and Rage3d Tweak/Overclocker I've gotten my card up to 373.5 core and 324 mem with no artifacts. That's about the max for the memory but the core can go even higher but thats as far as the slider reaches in the Rage3D overclocker. This is all on stock cooling in a crappilly cooled (only 1 120MM exhaust) sonata!
With the 373.5 / 324 setup I got 17217 3DMarks (2001SE of course).

I love this card, softmodding rules.

Heh..I did that with my 9500 Pro (9500 Pro using 9700 Pro BIOS to overclock..). I got some nice scores, but my system was lacking in the CPU department so I could only get around 13k.

I never heard of that one infinite... What did you do? Just download the 9700 Pro BIOS and replace them with the old 9500?

And these were both PRO versions?

There is no 9500 Pro to 9700 Pro mod. Only 9500 NP to 9700 mod.

I think what he meant was that he loaded the 9700 Pro BIOS into his 9500 Pro which then allows him to overclock it. Otherwise his 9500 Pro would have been clock-locked.

Does you're 9500 come up as a 9800 PRO like mines in device manager? I know it doesn't softmod it to a 9800, but it sure does look cool.

I would say flashing a different BIOS to allow overclocking is not a mod. However, hacking drivers to enable twice as many pipelines is. Just my opinion, but it's not like your 9500PRO's preform like 9700PRO's after the flash.

BaboonGuy, you must've gotten a REALLY sweet 9500NP. I can only get mine up to 400/304 and it won't stay there for long as I usually have to back the mem down to 295 or so. I have the 3.3ns chips on mine, what're yours? Did you add ramsinks or anything?

Let me guess Creig, yous has Infineon ram, right? Infineon 3.3 and Hynix 3.6ns (anything else?) were what I saw. I got the Infineon type, thought "great, it's rated faster..." Mine also stops in the 290's, I won't take it higher than 290. Tried ramsinks, ramsinks with lots of air, bare chips - never a difference. Those that got Hynix often reported 325 or better, never saw one that wouldn't make 300. Sometimes you win, sometimes you win bigger

Infineon 3.3ns chips here too but they are awesome for some reason. No ramsinks or nothing added, just the stock card. I love Erica, she performs exceptionally well and she was cheap!
