Right now ASUS needs to get a new BIOS out fast, the newest one cant OC worth crap. I'm using the original one and it takes about 10 restarts before the board will boot up with overclocking...after it boots up its rock solid. Guess its the chance I take for buying a board thats a few weeks old.

I managed to get my hands on an unreleased bios from asus for this board...didn't help with overclocking though , maybe the next public release will fix things up. If you have this mobo and want the unreleased BIOS you can private message me .

From what I've read the Corsair XMS PC6400 doesn't OC very well at vdimm's below 2.0v so you might want to try backing down the FSB just a couple notchs & see if that solves your problem since the voltage doesn't adjust above 1.9v.

I'm actually about to build a system based on almost the exact same configuration for a buddy of mine tonight or tomorrow (4200+ & Antec Neo 550 HE PSU) & I'll post my results when I get XP installed.

Cool, man. But I suspect that if you buy a better cooler you should be able to get better results. Not to mention up the vcore a little...and lower the mem ratio.

AMD's cpu are really bad at overclocking. and are all memory timing whore

OMG you should be banned for trolling. If that ain't bait I don't know what is!

When will the newbies learn... Anyways thats a great oc for stock hs/f. With a Zalman 9500, you could really make that chip fly!

I found a way to get the ram higher than 1.95 Volts. ASUS includes an overclocking program which allows you to give up to 2.5Volts!! and 1.5625 Volts on the CPU. But if I raise the FSB, the PC just freezes, im going to try clockgen to see if it works with the ram voltage up higher. Also setting the CPU to 1.5625 volts only gives it 1.425 volts. So I'm sure ASUS will probaly fix this in the next BIOS release. Keep this in mind if you are going to buy this motherboard!

I did manage to get XP to boot up at 2.8GHz with the HT at 1X and ram at DDR2 400. Soon as I logged in I got a blue screen of death though .

hehe...I hope not ...used clockgen

got the CPU at 2.805GHz - didnt last long enough for screenshot (sorry for blurry pic...got excited and couldnt hold camera still lol):

2.797 seemed stable: and only 39c

Now im waiting for ASUS to send me a BIOS that can up the core on the CPU or a new version of the AIBooster program that will allow me to. I have a feeling this CPU has a lot more to give .

I agree....I could usually post (bios only) 200mhz max more then the highest speed I could boot into windows...Therefore the 4.4ghz has to be BS on the part opf the board...Especially with the cooling you have....Post 4.4ghz n bios but cannot boot stably into windows past 2.8ghz?? I dont think so...

lol@ this thread Even 3Ghz with a dual core is barley worth posting and 3.2 with single...you're not even 2.8 stable yet..what's this 4.4 crap?

Not considering he doesn't boot. And if he has cool n' quiet on, it may be downclock to 600mhz anyway.

I know it wasn't the best. By "interesting" I meant that its weird that the BIOS says 4.4GHz. But I still think its a good OC for stock voltage, stock cooling, and low voltage on the ram. Oh yea...I am now posting this message from 2.8GHz...so its stable now .

Only if you ran memtest 24hours, ran prime for 24hours, and it never locks up or gives errors.
