That's a nice Club Car. I've only seen them with fake Rolls Royce bodies though. That one looks nice.

I envy you, seriously. Minimalist living rocks.

I live in Northern Tohoku, nothing to be jealous of... but I'll be moving south the end of this month.

The only time I want more space is when I'd like to have friends over.

The car is a 2007 Suzuki WagonR 4WD. I once got it up to 100 on the highway - the max on the speedometer is 140... kilometers

I've been seriously thinking about moving to HK... the small apartments really scare me. lol.

my current apartment is 700 square feet and it feels kinda small sometimes.

Despite what most are saying, I kinda like that cozy feel you have going on there. Where in Japan are you exactly?

Personally, I think a place like that would make a awesome bachelor pad if it were located in a decent part of the right city. Economical, Easy, and could save tons of money.

Nice pad. What's that oblong object on the back of your door? Mailbox? Air Freshener?

I live in Miyako, Iwate.
I'm a 3 minute walk away from the train station, so it qualifies as "downtown". I don't mind living in a small space, but I do wish there was one more room. A separate bedroom would go a long way to making it feel less like I'm in a dorm.

how much in USD does that stuff cost?

The car lease is 34000?/month and the apartment costs 45000?/month. In USD, that would be about $330 for the car (which includes insurance) and $430 for the apartment.

Yep, it's a mailbox.

Can you post pics of your bathroom?

Sure, they're seperated so the toilet and shower/tub are in different rooms. The seat is a genuine Toto Washlet (NSFW).

What exactly do you need the car for? ...

But for $430 for the apartment, that's not really that bad... (if not comparing US apartments to Japanese ones).

Looks like a nice apartment even though it's small. I'm confused, is only the right side of that shower/tub picture the shower/tub. Or is the right side a tub and the left where you shower?

I have to visit one of 16 schools in the area on any given day and the commute can be up to 25km each way - they're rural schools so no bus/train service. Company pays for the car.

The latter. I have a cover on the tub now ('cause it's way too small for me to use) and you stand on the left side to shower.

The building was built in 2007 so I'm the first tenant. Has an electric hot water heater, space heater, and air conditioning. Compared to some of the older places around here, I'm really lucky.

Why does the hot water need to be heated?
Mine uses gas to heat cold water.

reminds me of that Seinfeld episode where Kramer has the Japanese business men over, and has them sleep in a large chest of drawers.
