Well just finished playing Revelations...

So far I have played AC2, Brotherhood, and Revelations...

Part of me wishes I had played AC1 but I think I am okay without it story wise...

While I enjoy the new type of game play, I used to only play FPS, the stories leave a bit to be desired...

I think if it was just some guy who could TIME TRAVEL via DNA/Memories to change/alter/fix events, it would have been MUCH cooler. The whole demi-gods trying to save the planet is a mess...

In reviews most don't seem to like AC3 but I want to play it for the American Revolution and George Washington side of it...

So here I go, hitting PLAY...

Stick AC3 out until at least hour 10. By that time you'll have progressed past the terrible first 5 hours and had a chance to see what the real game is like.

I'm in the middle of Revelations right now, I've always enjoyed the AC series. Personally I think skipping AC1 was a mistake, all the Altair references and sequences really lose their significance.

I LOVED AC3, both for the time setting and the location (I live in Boston so it was cool to see some of the locations. Don't get the hate.

I can't imagine playing them all back to back. I played the first few as they came out and midway through Brotherhood I started getting bored and didn't finish it. I got Revelations on a whim once it got really cheap, and I still couldn't put more than a few hours into it before getting bored (again).

AC3 was actually cool because it was a new location and new time period. I liked it more than others did even though I still didn't finish that one either.

AC4 was fun for a while, but I don't care as much for the ship mechanic as others to. It was fun at first but it's starting to wear thin. I'll probably skip the series for a while

I have never completed any Assassins Creed game in my life. In fact I have probably not gone past 25% of any Assassins Creed game. Like most open world games, I tend to lose focus and go off on my own exploration adventures. I then get bored and delete the game off my computer. The story never pulled me in and I found the continuous back and forth between the past and present to be more annoying than anything. It also doesn't help that every single game is essentially the same thing in a new environment.

I played AC1 all the way to AC4 (waiting for Unity to drop down in price).

I like AC2 the most for its Renaissance setup and AC4 also for its depth of contents. I was dead bored by Brotherhood and Revelations I just dropped them mid-game and read the synopsis off Wikipedia.

I played AC1 about half way, skipped 2 and played the one set in Boston for an hour or two, but Black Flag is the one I really was able to sink my teeth into.

Easily the best of the series, IMO.

Edit: The modern-day/future stuff really turns me off the game, though. I either ignore it and do something else, or rush through it if I'm forced to interact with it. What an irritating thing.

Ugh. This.

I can't speak to many of the other AC games, but the storyline/plot for AC1 was such a monumental turn-off. Just bad. I fail to see why this was necessary, as opposed to just simply having a compelling story set in that era and with fleshed out characters, rather than the awful time-travel/scifi nonsense.
Another area where Thief simply annihilates it.

AC 1 is the best of the bunch. From 2 onwards they treat the player as a toddler with more sims things like building houses instead of fighting.

I stopped playing AC2 when I realized that the guards can never kill you. They get you don to 1 hp, then stop attacking until you regen health.

That was the last straw for me.

I agree, playing through Black Flag now and the future modern office abreigo or whatever that is supposed to be, is dumb as hell. The rest of the game is good though. I thought the whole game should of been in that era and left it at that.

Played only AC4 to completion and because it was my first AC that I actually played, it was all novel to me. The game is bright and highly detailed and engaging. The machanics started to get old even within that one game. There are one of 3-4 mission types and they just repeat in different locations. But the vibrancy of the tropical environment kept me going.

The Abstergo stuff is okay. It's like a built in break in the game. Thankfully those segments are short (and pointless) but they serve to heighten the experience by periodically taking you out of it.

AC Unity with its drab and dull yet detailed environment lacks this saving grace. However the one time I got sent to another time period was really nice looking. I wish the whole game were set in that time period.

I think the overall storyline of Assassin's Creed died with AC3. The game you play and the character you play as, is not the actual story line. I think they lost their way with it. Desmond is the main character.

Taken alone without the whole storyline, I really like the games.

Played Black Flag for about 10 minutes a couple weeks ago on a whim since it came free with my XB1.

During the tutorial free run when you are doing your first chase, I somehow bugged my character to clip inside of one of those log towers, effectively imprisoning my character with no way to get out.

...game has not been played since.

AC1 is a frightfully boring and tedious game with dull story and wooden characters. You're not missing anything if you don't play it. Unless you care about Desmond's storyline, which nobody does.

AC2 as it's follow up completely blows the original out of the water. Ezio is a fantastic character that you can actual care about and relate to. Story is top notch. Gameplay is great and there's lots to do. Lastly Renaissance Italy looks just gorgeous. Just a fantastic, well polished game. Most people consider it the best in the series.

AC: Brotherhood expands on AC2's perfection. It's not quite as good, but still offers a solid story with strong characters. Exploring Renaissance Rome is a great gaming experience.

AC: Revelations drops off a bit. It's still a good game but has a much weaker story and felt a bit too short. Ties up the Ezio storyline.

ACIII was a bit too ambitious, and as a result is all over the place in style and tone. It also takes a LONG time to get into. When it's good, it's really good, but a lot of the game is a tedious slog. Connor is a return to more wooden, less relatable characters. Though he does get through by being the classic fish out of water. He does suffer a bit from Forest Gump syndrome, in that he's at too many major historical events to be plausible. Kinda strips suspension of disbelief.

ACIV is a return to the form of AC2. It expands on the best parts of ACIII without pretentiousness of its predecessor. It's arguably one of the finest pirate themed game ever made. Great ship to ship combat mechanic. Edward Kenway is a lovable jerk. Missions are fun and varied, there's lots to do. Just a great game.

I haven't played Unity yet. Hopefully it's fixed by the time it ends up in the bargain bin. It's unfortunate its severe technical flaws overshadowed the game. It shouldn't have been released when it was. As Miyamoto once said, a delayed game is eventually good.
