My Asus ROG G74sx laptop boots to a black screen.

I recently purchased a used Asus ROG G74 SX laptop, and it works perfectly fine, other then it not showing anything on the screen (no backlite or anything on the screen).

The good news is that it works just fine on an external monitor (actually a hdmi TV that I have it hooked up to, through an hdmi cable).

I have taken the laptop apart, to make sure that the video cables were securely connected, and they are.

I disconnected and reconnected everything, other then taking apart the internal monitor itself (because I assume that the video cable would not have gotten loose on the actual led screen).

Anyways, does anyone here have any experience with the same issue that I am experiencing with the Asus G74SX laptop, and if you figured out how to repair the issue?

Thank you very much for any help.

First, if this is a new laptop in warranty, return it, do not take it apart unless you have no other choice.

Second, in the middle picture, is that the camera flash causing the line down the middle of the screen?

Third, if the backlight isn't working, you can shine a flashlight at the screen and see the picture anyways.

Fourth, when you boot, can you see the Asus splash screen and access the bios on the external monitor?

Last, it's entirely possible it's the cable connection on the LCD side, the LCD itself, or an inverter in between somewhere. I haven't really touched too many rog lappys, so not sure how they prefer to run the config internally...

2nd pic sure looks like a crack, shine a flashlight at it and poke on it in that location to see if the gap changes size.

Have you tried powering the laptop down and restarting it to see if the screen comes on? My Asus laptop occasionally (but not always) will boot to a blank screen and my research seemed to indicate that this was something that line of Asus laptops would do (not sure how close to yours in model number and age mine is) and the solution was to send back to Asus for a replacement.

Yeah, I tried all of those steps and others. I figured out that it was a backlight issue, and replacing the screen fixed the issue. Thanks.
