My attempt to filter Johnnie Walkier Scotch through a Brita filter...

So I've heard about that vodka filtering website and finally decided to try it. My Brita filter came today and I prepared it and got my scotch out. It's Johnnie Walker Black Label since I enjoy scotch more than vodka, but this stuff isn't all that great, so I'm going to see how well it works.

1st filtration started: 4:35 pm
1st filtration finished: 4:37 pm

Notes: a little less brown, a little smoother. Smells about the same.

2nd filtration started: 4:40 pm
2nd filtration finished: 4:42 pm

Notes: same color as before, smell reduced, smoothness continues to improve.

Will update as I continue through the evening, although my typing will become illegible soon.

3rd filtration: my filter is going slower than before. I think it may be getting a good workout.

JW BL isn't that great to start with. Most scotches have a lot of impurities anyway.

If you don't like the way it tastes, buy something different. If you want pure alchol with no taste buy everclear.

Uh, just drink Jack Daniels, it is charcoal filtered already.

It kind of defeats the purpose to filter anything but Vodka. Vodka is supposed to be relatively tasteless, everything else has a taste, filtering it just ruins the flavor of the drink. If you don't like JW then find another scotch or whiskey you do like.

JW Black is pretty good as it is. Granted its not the best you can buy, but I don't know about filtering it.

Save your brita filter for plastic bottle vodka.

Meh, JW produces excellent scotch/whiskey (depends on where you live ) in my opinion. Of course, there's always Famous Grouse, Jack Daniels and other whiskeys, but I like to sit on my big pile of money whilst drinking whiskey .

If you're drinking JW Black, you've got bigger issues to worry about than Brita filters. Why not go all the way and start mainlining turpentine?

Those guys rarely use exactly what the "myth" is about. They modify it to make the show more fun.

I enjoy watching them, but I don't believe much of what I see there.

If a $10 filter makes a $10 bottle of scotch as smooth as a $100 bottle of scotch, it makes sense to do it, no?
