Umm.. So how again is this affecting Brazil?
Are you kidding? The financial crisis has greatly harmed all kinds of other nations because of the economic slowdown.
As I understand it, in Brazil the feeling is a huge resentment that their previously thriving economy has taken a huge hit because of some bastards who were irresponsible.
Pretty much a similar sentiment to much of America, except that as a largely non-white nation, they refer to the people running the banks in the US and Europe racially.
Pretty politically incorrect by our (current) culture - but the reading comprehension is pretty crappy in this thread to misinterpret that he said ALL whites with blue eyes.
For some Joe Schmoe here to try to make a crack about his role in causing the crisis when the guy was clearly talking about the financial centers of the US and Europe is mistaken.
Politicians often pander to local views - the Willie Horton presidential campaign ad was no less offensive, indeed more offensive, for its use of injecting racism into the election in a way that was *just* deniable enough for a phony pretense to defend it. I would criticize his using race to make his point - but it should be read as criticizing the financial centers of the US and Europe, and he has a point on that, there is justificaton for criticism there.
