How does this stack up to a Casper mattress, in your opinion?

We recently upgraded to a King Casper and haven't looked back since. Memory foam + latex makes it cool and comfortable, 120 day guarantee where they will call the Salvation Army and come pick it up and donate it if you don't like it for whatever reason, and no middle man (direct factory sale) made it the all-around best buy.

i ordered a queen sized memory foam mattress for our guest bedroom. it was pretty amusing seeing it in a small box on the porch when i got home from work.

Any particular reason?

I only ask because I compared gel to latex and latex was hands down the winner for the top layer, which is what Casper does.

It probably depends on your climate and A/C situation.

Is the Casper as bad as they say for sitting on the edge? I mean, I sit on the edge to put my shoes on & stuff on my current memory foam bed, and it's better than sitting on a regular bed. I heard the Casper sags quite a bit due to the design.

the 2" bamboo cover over the gel was the deciding factor. Renewable resource and many positive reviews from sites not affiliated with the company.

Casper has a program that provides a 2" mattress topper, free of charge, if you determine after 30 days that the bed is too hard. It made a world of difference, and made the total mattress + topper size approximately 14" which was the exact size of my fitted linens. I do not use a box spring, just the Casper Mattress and the Topper.

FYI.

I have a foot-end storage king sleigh bed. I've never heard this particular concern, but I genuinely don't recall ever having an issue with the edge.. I sit on the foot end to put on socks every morning and never noticed any undue support, but I'd have to test it and get back to you.

I have no idea why anybody would have problems sitting on the edge of a Casper. It feels like sitting on the edge of a bed... no better or worse

My jaw dropped when I saw the price tag on that bed in a box. $1,299 for a queen? Is it woven with gold thread?

I paid $50 for a waterbed frame on Craig's List and another $50 for the mattress. I think the water to fill it may have approached $1 :sneaky:

It's like six grand for a Temperpedic, so $1300 is a pretty good deal compared to that.

I have had the king size for over 3 years, still feels like it did the first day. Heavy as hell tho.

Sending our king Casper to the Salvation Army this weekend, the wife hated it. Too hard for her, even with three inches of memory foam on top.

Now i have another company to look into in a couple months when we upgrade to a king size. So far Tuft & Needle, Casper and now this one. This one is a bit pricer but about $500. Decisions, decisions

A Bugatti is $1M, so a $600K Bentley is a good deal!
(I kid, I kid)

I do get frustrated at how much matresses cost. I could really use a new one, but simply can not swing $1K+

Fancy, I have an old serta with a 1.5 inch cheap foam topper, works well enough though the mattress is 10+ years old, so will probably be time to replace soon with the firmest mattress woman will put up with ...

I'm having a hard time figuring out what the best way to go is. Do you buy an expensive mattress and hope it lasts for many years (what we just did) or does it make more sense to buy a cheap mattress every couple of years?

Doing that with the Leesa we bought two weeks ago. It's not any better or worse than our old mattress, so I don't see the point of keeping it. Guess we'll give something else a shot.

I actually liked it, I like a firmer mattress. I will give the Casper credit, it was cool.

I now know what she wants. She wants 12+ inches, and the Tempurpedic effect of laying in a thick cloud of foam. Looking at Cost-Co now.

I read a consumer reports article that said paying over 1500 for a mattress is just markup and does not mean a better nights sleep or quality.

^ This. Factory direct is where it's at.

Casper's King is $950 ($900 if you use a referral code, PM me if you want one as I'd prefer not to advertise in public). With a 10-year warranty, 120-day trial period , and a hassle-free return - I'm OK with that purchase.

Most of the expensive mattresses are expensive not due to material construction and quality, but because you're being bent over by a middle man salesman trying to squeeze every penny from you similar to a car dealership. Consider Serta to be a Chevy dealership and Casper/BIAB to be Tesla from the sales perspective. With a company like Casper, your mattress starts being assembled in their factory when you order direct from them and is shipped to you a few days later.

Pretty cool company, their website also puts Bed-In-A-Box to shame and makes BIAB look like a high school project, but that's just a designer critique and not really applicable to their product - I think it's a very good mattress and if you buy BIAB or Casper depends mostly on your climate; the latex in the Casper is going to breathe the best of all current manufacturers in this price band, vs. the gel used by the BIAB. Just my personal opinion - everyone is going to be wildly across the board on comfort based on hard/soft as that's such an intimate preference.

Well you're not wrong

Yeah, check out a Casper, you might be surprised (>$1k). I have a regular foamie (Bob-o-Pedic haha) & it is fabulous, I sleep so much better. Probably the two best personal investments I've made are a good foam bed & fitted New Balance shoes...sleeping & walking in comfort now +1
