It really sucks... they only recieved 2 of the cards. I dont think they was supposed to be selling them.. but rather to .. hell.. I dunno.. check them out??
One of the computer tecs bought one.. I had a chance to buy the other one.. so I had him scan the price..
it was $399.
I only had $300 to spend.. period... thats what sucked.

I could have been the first one on the block with this card!!!

Oh well... maybe I will be the first one with a one MB P4 with some luck.

The brand name of the card was Asylum, Best Buys in my area seem to have a lot of that brand.

Be on the lookout.. these cards will be available to everyone soon.

Peace

This could be the only videocard that scares small children and animals. If you have rats that may be a plus.

What city, state did is the best buy that you saw the card.

The store is in Southgate Michigan, which is a small suburb just outside of Detroit.

If I had the money I would have bought it.. oh well.

You guys have anything better to do than rank on Nvidia?
Isn't there anyone here who thinks they are a tier 1 company?

Sound off...

you can be a great company and produce a bad product... doesn't mean we're cracking on nvidia as a whole, just the geforcefx

I'm a 9700Pro user, but think nVidia is tier1, and that the GF FX is a great card.

Heh, I admit I am old school and stubborn as well. I tried a ATI card a few years ago... and I had a LOT of trouble with drivers. I know ATI has come a long way since then.. but a bad experaince can leave a bad taste in you're mouth.

I have been running a ATI card for a couple of days now for the first time in years.. I bought a
9500 Pro when I couldnt get the FX.
In the last couple of days I got my first random reboot in years.. it could be due to many things... but it brings back old bad memories.

I was a HUGE AMD fan back in the K6-III days, and I still to this day have a K6-III 450 machine up and running... however I spent a LOT of cash playing with Athlons in its early day..... those damn Via chipsets.
I am still to this day trying to get that bad taste out of my mouth and havent bought another
AMD product since.

When you have a product thats fast and stable you tend to stick with it. I dont hate AMD or ATI...
but I don't put out any money for those products without a LOT of thought first.

Now I gotta figgure out whats wrong with my ATI card.. some folks say disable fast writes, I gotta try that still... but since the problem is not consistant it may take months to track down and MAY be bad drivers.. which is why I never liked ATI in the first place.

I don't wanna start a flame war... these are just my opinions and I would rather be called a newbie
that does'nt know jack than to try and defend my opinions.

Anyway, thats why I would consider spending $400 on a video card that is very little improvment
over the regular Geforce series.
For the money you get the first Nvidia card that supports direct x 9 and makes the card a *little* more
future proof.

Why does everyone even rant on GeForce FX? Yes it does have a squirrel fan for cooling, and loud, and yes ATI beats it out in performance, but the GeForce has something special that has yet been implemented by gaming corps, and such

What is CineFX Technology? and can ATI use it? or even render it fast enough?

I'm not bashing ATI nor NVidia, but look at the features the FX has before you bash it totally.

I am VERY interested in CineFX Tech, and Intellisample tech (I have no idea what this is).

BTW, I am holding of for NV35 and see how it stands with Ati 9800 Pro

Yes, I agree that Nvidia stumbled a bit with this (FX) release. It is still a very powerful piece of hardware any way you frost it.

Anticipation for the NV35 is very high. Nvidia will most likely have optimized their .13u with TSMC for a cooler running chip hence they will
not need the "blowdryer" any longer. But, if Nvidia is keeping up with ATI right now with only a 128-bit memory interface, can you imagine the
performance the NV35 will have if they decide to implement the 256-bit mem interface?

I'm not saying they will do this with the NV35 of course, but
Nvidia has commented that the NV35 will have approximately 2X the performance of the current GFFX 5800 Ultra. And I can't see them accomplishing
this without going to a 256-bit mem interface. That is just too big of a performance jump for it to still be a 128-bit mem interface.

Any thoughts?

CineFX is just nVidia's buzzword for DirectX 9. Sure, it adds a couple of minor extensions but theres really not much point seeing as it can't render full DX9 at any decent framerate anyway.

I'm a 9700Pro user, but think nVidia is tier1, and that the GF FX is a great card.

Forget, the noise, heat, delay and the general PR BS. Today, as it stands, when the GF FX Ultra is selling for $400+ USD, can anyone honestly say this is a good card based on cost/performance?

Anyways, GF FX is not a BAD card, it would have been better if NVidia would sell it at $300 like what 9700Pro is going for. I'd say people would be more receptive to it.

The point is NVidia FU&*** up and they contine to spin PR, and yes they have a great track record starting with the TNT2 Ultra, but I fear that if they don't get back to the drawing board, they WILL lose their focus. Nobody wants that, I mean what would happen if ATI had a monopoly on the graphic card market? We'd be all screwed.

As consumer, we have to let NVidia know that we will not accept anything unless it's their best effort, after all, we are paying for their bills. Hopefully, NV learned their lesson and will now concentrate more on ACTUAL product development and LESS on other meaning less stuff. It was a proven forumla for success for them.

Let us all hope that NV35 will be a kick ass product!

you got to be kidding?

I order that card from bestbuy on the 24ish and got it.

too bad it lasted only 4 hours.

Wierd part is it was in a preorder box, not a real box.

Also BFG Technologies canceled that card.

They will not be making them.

1st let me clarify, I've owned Nvidia cards all the way back to the RIVA128. Diamond Viper128 I believe. I don't bang on Nvidia, but with the increase in Fans in my case, Noise has definitely become an issue. I think i have 5 or 6 fans now in my system. I've managed to put pretty quiet fans in all 3 of my systems, and they do generate a fair amount of noise, but it is is pretty nominal. Now, here comes NVIDIA, with there hair dryer. With noise as a consideration, i have to completely rule this beast out. I think Nvidia is seeing there problem, and thus has had a very limited distribution based on this. I know, even though I've had every generation of Nvidia all the way back to the Riva128, I wouldn't have one of these beasts put in my system....

So, I'm keeping my fingers crossed that Nvidia finds a better way, and releases this next generation of cards with a more operable cooling system. If not, I'll be having to look at ATI again, for the 1st time in a LONG time...
