Here's my first post for those looking for cell phone deals...

A new Best Buy here in Orlando opened last week. I went to
the PCS rep and scored this deal. I'm filling out the loads
of rebates and Best Buy Gift cards now and decided to share:

+ 149.99 Samsung SCH6100
+ 199.99 Samsung SCH8500
+ 19.95 Plantronics hands free set
+ 19.95 Plantronics Hands free set

Rebates:
- 100.00 Sprint PCS 2 Phone rebate
- 50.00 Sprint PCS rebate for new sub and 1yr agreement (rep coupon)
- 50.00 Sprint PCS rebate for new sub and 1yr agreement (rep coupon)
- 40.00 Best Buy gift card
- 40.00 Best Buy gift card
- 60.00 Best Buy gift card
- 60.00 Best Buy gift card
- 40.00 Best Buy gift card
- 200.00 Best buy gift card (for buying 2 phones)

Totals:

+389.88 + tax - phones and hands free kits
-200.00 - Sprint PCS Rebates
-440.00 - Best Buy gift cards

The register also spat out 3 more $30 PCS 'back to school rebates' but I did not add them in because they may conflict with the other PCS rebates (I'm going to send them in anyways).

A couple of the gift cards are for buying the 19.95 hands free kits.

I also went ahead and bought the optional 59.99 Best Buy 3yr service agreement for each phone.

Got both phones up and running with the PCS 29.99/mo 1000 minute plan a couple of hours after I bought them. These phones are sweet!

especially if they (GC) are free.
would you share some of your GC ?

Guys it really is as simple as it sounds. I went in the guy said I could get a 200 Best Buy gift card for buying 2 PCS phones. On the phones, it says you get a free hands-free kit and another $40 Best buy gift card for each phone.

Then you have the Sprint 100 rebate for buying 2 phones, plus the other two $50 rebates for a new 1 year subscriber.

All I did was buy a couple of phones and hands free kits and all the rebates print out from the register - that's how Best Buy does it nowadays. I was handed 10 rebate slips from the register AND 3 sprint rebate slips from the PCS rep.

All the rebates look legit as only one of them needed the original upc, the others just say you need copies of the upc. The lady was also kind enough to make copies of my sales slip for all the rebates.

Sorry about the vagueness, it's my first post. If someone can duplicate this and post again, that might help the others.

Where can you get 1000 minutes for 29.99?? The best I can find from sprint is 500 minutes (250 anytime and 250 night and weekend) for 29.99 Please tell me how you got such a great price.

I guess that 1000min is for 2*29.99 = 59.98 and not for 1*29.99=29.99.

He is talking about 2 sprint plans in whole as the deal.

You can get 750 for $29.99 though. You get one option with the plan, take 250 nights & weekends. Sign 1 year contract, get another option -- another 250 nights & weekends.

I picked up a SCH-6100 (that thing is smaller than a pack of cigarettes!) and took LD and wireless web. I don't go out of the city, so I don't need dual band. Don't talk on it too much so I didn't need all the extra minutes.

I got 1000 in-state (Florida) minutes, no long distance,
for 29.99 + 1.99 (for the statewide calling) with a 1 year
new member service agreement for EACH phone. The price is
on all the Sprint PCS brochures in the store under the
section titled 'Most Minutes'.

I don't know if it is a regional thing, I did check the PCS
website and the best they have is 750 for 29.99. When I log
in to my account, all my minutes are there.

250 peak mins
250 bonus minutes
500 nites and weekends

Looks like a regional thing to me, that would be an awesome plan if I had it available in CA.. I only make in-state calls but because I also only make long distance in-state calls, I had to opt for the LD option. If I had 1000 in-state minutes that would rock.

As for the rebates and stuff... some aren't combinable. For example, you can't combine the $50 1yr contract rebate and get 1 free option every month... unlike what my sprint rep told (and sold) me. =( Also, those gift cards, are they the ones you USED or ones they gave to you as a result of buying the phone? What if you only buy one phone?

The gift cards will all come in the mail from Best Buy in 8 weeks after I mail in the register printed rebate form.

6 of the register printed rebate forms are for Best Buy gift cards totalling $440 for buying 2 pcs phones and 2 hands-free kits.

Those are all mail-in rebates. I just bought a Sprint PCS phone here in Dallas for my girlfriend, and I got all those rebate forms printed on the receipt. The phone still cost me $149.99 + tax, but there's a $40 gift card, $30 cash, and another $30 gift card rebate form printed on my receipt. Souja also took advantage of the headset deal, which is basically buying the $20 headset and getting both $20 cash back AND a $40 gift card via mail-in rebates. Hope this post clarifies things a little..

ps, my gf also got the 1000mins for $29.95 deal over at the Sprint PCS store..not sure how it's divided up though (maybe 500anytime + 500 offpeak/weekends?)

I got one of those 1000 min for $29.99 deals and it really sucks. I use up all my peak hour minutes, and I can never finish even the half of off peak.
Also, I was wondering if I can use $50 rebate after I bought the phone. Or is this rebate for online orders only?

Best Buy's 3 yr Warranty is pretty cool. You can replace your phone anytime during the three years for another one if you don't like it anymore. You'd either only pay the difference or get credit from the original phone's price. The only thing you really have to pay for is the activation fee from whatever service provider you get.

A word of advice to anyone jumping on this deal. You must keep your phone activated for at least 30 days to get the Sprint $100 rebate. Now, I know what you are thinking, but if you change plans, change phone numbers, or change phones in the first 30 days, it will appear to the rebate dept that your phone was disconnected. I happened to me and it took 9 months and many phone calls to finally get my rebate, and all I did was change phone numbers on one of the phones. However, with that rebate, mine was a pretty sweet deal as well. I paid $299.00 +tax for two phones but got a total of $340.00 back in rebates. But this was a year ago.

Just a word of advice. The runaround was no party.

Those of you who are getting 1000 minutes for 29.99, what are your area codes so I can check on the sprint website if it is regional.

Sprint PCS = major suckage in my area. Anyone know when GSM is going to come to the states and when are we going to get rid of this CDMA crap?

Can I just pop into Best Buy and get the headset w/o the phone? Or you gotta buy the headset and phone together?

Finality - GSM is and has been in the states

major coverage is scattered all over parts of the country... there's supposedly coverage in the bay area of CA. there's also been coverage in NYC, NY and South Bend & Indianapolis, IN. relative said there's supposed to be coverage in Phoenix, AZ as well. a recent Chicago implant from CA that worked for omnipoint said that GSM is available in downtown and O'hare areas of Chicago, full implementation is to be rolled out here by 2002.

GSM rollout is very slow... but it's getting there... i've got SprintPCS in Chicago right now and it's great. i travel into IN everday and rarely have problems.

Souja - do you know if Best Buy's SprintPCS dept has the new Sanyo phone w/ the speakerphone yet?
