if it is gout get to the doctor...

last time I had an attack it was real bad...just flamed up overnight

doc hooked me up with pain meds and and some other pills...most of the pain was gone that night

now I take Alopurinal everyday...no more attacks

go to doctor and get some anti inflammatory drugs and pain medication (prolly injection into site). Might try aspirin (but I am not a doctor ).

If you just woke up and are in pain, you either a) injured yourself while asleep (unlikely) or you're right, it's gout, whohoo!

Most likely a dock might want to do some blood tests and check for your purine levels, if they're high, you've got gout! lol Temporary relief is usually with NSAIDS (very very bad on the stomach long term). Long term relief with something like allopurinol (not too bad, also anti-kidney stone medicine, good stuff!). If you've been eating a lot of meat, shrimp, organ meats (kidney, liver, etc) lately, those are typically high in purines and cause gout to be worse. Enjoy!

First time I had my gout outbreak I thought I broke my toe, but could not figure out how I did it. I could not even let a bed sheet rest on it. Go see the Doc!

yea, I remember having gout and even a simple breeze would set off the throbbing pain.

Inflammation of the joints, caused by urate crystals between the bones. (ouch) The meds help the blood re-absorb the crystals.

Probenicid is the answer, if you have gout. It's also a great masking agent if you need to pass a drug test and you're dirty.
