My birthday suprise

So I came home from work during lunch today and my wife sprung a suprise on me. Apparently she made plans for us to go visit her mother tomorrow (my actual birthday) for my birthday.

Well, I didn't handel the situation well thinking it was a bad joke. Finally the conversation devolved into:
"Why would I want to spend 5 hours driving on my birthday?"
"Oh, we wouldn't drive back. We would stay the night."


I am confused as to why she thinks this is something I would want to do on my birthday. I mean I don't really want to spend my birthday with my parents let alone her mom. Not to mention the fact that I spend about 4 hours in the car a day for work and don't want to spend close to that much time in the car on a day off - certainly not my birthday. Also, there is the fact that spending the night at her mom's house means no nookie. Course I think I ruined that now anyway

Now shes kinda upset and thinks I hate her mom :roll:

Well, i guess thats better than coming home from work for lunch and finding her getting railed by the milkman. Maybe.

I agree, I don't know what the OP's wife was thinking either...

No idea if this is how it is for you, but I surmise that going to see her Mom would require you to watch your behavior to put on a good "face" in her presence. Not very relaxing in my opinion.

perhaps theree will be (or was) a surprise party with family at her moms planned
