My boss seems to think I spend too much time in the bathroom

It seems like every time I go #2 at work, I indirectly hear about my boss complaining about how I take so long in the bathroom. The thing is, I'm usually out in 3 minutes easy, plus half the co-workers at my place usually take 20 min naps in there, and I never hear anything about that. What the hell?

What type of work do you do? If you're in a job where any time away from your desk means decreased productivity, I can see why the boss is annoyed (but not sure why he's complaining about you and not your coworkers). But if you're in the type of job where you have a certain task per period, and as long as that gets done, it doesnt really matter how much time you spend at the desk, the boss doesnt really have a leg to stand on.

I used to work with a guy that shot up in the bathroom. Are you a junkie?

Entry level IT desktop/client support and just general PC repair. It's mostly task based, and I always get my work done.

The thing is, even if I were in a position that being away meant less productivity, like phone sales, I don't think you're allowed to bar an employee from using the restroom. Complain, sure, but that's still a bit stupid since people obviously will need to use a restroom.

The sad part is that my co-workers here are afforded coffee breaks and smoke breaks. I neither smoke nor drink coffee, so they're probably working about 30 minutes a day less than me. And I get trolled for using the restroom. lol...

I used to work for people like that, their usually called bird dogs - because dog out about everything, and point out everything.

Would you consider your boss a work-a-holic?

If you wanted to be an ass about it, go to him and ask him to time you when you go to the bathroom. And then compare that time to other people.

Maybe bring a 5 gallon bucket to your office and tell him you have bathroom issue fixed, then tell him you just need a place to dump your crap after the fact.

I prefer using my home toilet, and I subconsciously refrain from shitting when not at home. I have no idea how it works, but it usually does. I very seldom shit anywhere other than my happy home bathroom :^D

Probably.. your dump stinks up the whole office including your boss's cubicle/room. That would be my guess.

Nothing worse than a workplace that treats its employees like schoolchildren. Tell him that if he has a problem, install a phone and laptop in there so you can work during your daily constitutional.
