By alot, I mean ALL NIGHT LONG. When I have him turn onto his side he will stop, but the second I fall back asleep he's on his back again, snoring loudly. This is semi-recent too. When I first met him he never snored, but a couple months after that it started and hasnt stopped.

What can I have him use to make it stop?

Edit: He is not overweight, and as far as we both know he doesnt have allergies. I have heard from a friend that those Breathe Right strips actually make the snoring louder.

1. Dump him.
2. Tell him to lose weight.
3. Get yourself some ear plugs.

I had a roommate that snored really loud. All I did was just bang on my bed really loud until he woke up, and then I would fall asleep before him. I don't think he ever figured out why he kept waking up in the middle of the night.

Is he overweight? Does he have allergies? If so, is he taking medication for them? What have you tried (breathe right?).

Winner. I used to keep my wife awake with my snoring. These seemed to do the trick. Though eventually she just got used to it and sleeps through it which is even better.

breath right strips are complete junk, don't do anything, don't buy them.

If he's not overweight, he either will have to stop sleeping on his back or get a CPAP or something OR you could stop living in sin, heathen!

The Target brand of those strips helped me.

i snored pretty bad too. turned out i had a deviated septum i didn't know about, and badly needed my tonsils out. i also heard breathe right strips can help.. i don't know about making it worse. all they do is allow you to breathe better through your nose. weirdly, i also heard attaching a tennis ball to the back of a t-shirt (so that if you lie on your back it uncomfortably lies in the small of your back) can unconsciously train him to start sleeping on his side. i ran a search on healia as well which should give you some medical insight into the snoring: http://communities.healia.com/.../healia_search/snoring. it's important for him to get checked out too.. he's likely not getting quality sleep, and if he has sleep apnea, there is serious health concerns involved as well.

Breathe Right strips work just fine for most people. If they didn't work for you, try wearing them on the OUTSIDE of your nose!!

OP, does your bf normally sleep on his side, or on his back? What about before you two were sharing a bed? If he's always been an on the back sleeper, it's likely he's always been a snorer, and training him to sleep on his side might be a chore. If he normally slept on his side in the past, and is just now sleeping on his back.......could it be having another person in the bed with him is changing his sleep habits? Not sure how much you two snuggle (and it's none of my business), but one of those full length body pillows might help him, as it will allow him a more comfortable position on his side to sleep in.

If the snoring continues, you might consider talking to a doctor about sleep apnea, though most people I've known that have been diagnosed with it said the doctor told them it was more due to their being overweight.

The nose strips worked well for me, especially when I went home after my dad passed away, and wasn't competing against him for loudness (which meant I was keeping everyone awake with my snoring). It does take up to a week of using them to retrain your body to breathe through the nose (as snoring happens oftentimes when you can't breathe through your nose, and the mouth pops open to continue life......and leads to snoring). Took about 3 days, and even now I'll occasionally have nights where I'll wake up with dry mouth (from snoring), but can fall back asleep on my side again and be okay. If your bf has problems with being stuffed up, you might try the BR strips with menthol, which might clear out any sinus blockage a bit, and/or try using something at night that will dry out the sinuses a little.

Of course, a drink of wine, or a nice dosing of antihistamine, before bed, will do wonders to knock his ass out too!!

Sew a pocket to the center back of his PJ top. Then put a tennis ball in it. He will probably stop sleeping on his back then which means less snoring.

Has he been evaluated for sleep apnea by a doctor?

Google "sleep apnea"....he should have a sleep study done where he is monitored during th night, to see if he has this. Basically, you don't breath long enough to briefly wake up, before resuming breathing.

Sleep apnea can increase a persons risk of heart attacks and other problems.

If it sleep apnea, you can get what is called a CPAP, basically a mask over your nose that blows air under pressure into your lungs, to keep your airway open. That prevents sleep apnea and lets the person get an full night sleep with being woken up.

If it isn't sleep apnea, there are a few surgeries that can be done to try and stop it, but from the little that I have seen/heard about them, they don't always work.

If the breathe right strips don't work, you could always just stick a pillow over his head until the snoring dies down. ;x

Does he drink a lot?

Is he overweight?

There are a lot of reasons for snoring, and these are 2 big ones...

When I was 25 pounds heavier I snored much more than I do now. And I was not *that* fat to begin with (230 pounds), so even being 30-40 pounds overweight is plenty to cause snoring and mild sleep apnea.

I snore. I have not gone to the doctor about it. Breathe Right Strips work very well in clearing out my sinuses, but do not help me stop snoring. I have found that my snoring is worse when I eat or drink alcohol a short time before bed, or when I am not getting enough sleep at night.

there's a trick that i've read about. sew a tennis ball into the back of his pajama top, it will make sleeping on his back uncomfortable for him so he will turn to his side.

Murder him. I'd absolutely understand if my wife murdered me for snoring... Or leave him, if you wish to avoid the whole prison thing. Or if you really like the guy, you could try the snore strips (work for some, although usually not for really bad snoring), check out information about sleep apnea, or have him sleep in another room (or house).
