Phone call may be good, but I would recommend someone putting on a white dress, turning on the TV to static, and crawling towards him with long black hair or a wig over her/his face.
Or, have someone hide under his bed and reach up and grab his arm.
But this is all very cruel. If you saw the movie, you would understand just now cruel it is!
I saw the movie - it had some very good parts, and was pretty scary. I love to be scared at movies, I don't try to play the macho guy - If I go into a scary movie I WANT to be scared. Now my take on this movie: Good points: I Liked the idea of the girl as evil - I liked her name: Samara just sounds evil. I liked the way she looked and I like the way the actress portrayed the character. Right ammount of gore - some movies get too gory and lose the "Scare Factor" this movie did a good job of keeping it in check. I liked the transformation of the characters after watching the video, I liked the video itself, and the idea with the horses. I especially liked it when the girl came out of the screen - the movement of her was very surreal, and added to the scare factor. Her apparent mistreatment by her family was a good way to build the plot. I liked the way the director jumped right into the scary part with the first scene, and I liked the shelter mountain in - very fitting for the movie. What I did not like: The director did not push the envelope. If he really wanted to create a terrifying movie - I mean really scary - he would have had the bad guy win. No directors it seem have the guts to allow the bad guy to win, this director went further than most by letting them come to a stalemate (they found the weakness of samara) Now had he really wanted the movie to be scary samara would have had no weakness: she never slept, she should have killed the woman and her kid, plain and simple that is scary.
