I mentor two black men in my professional development. They are very clear - they want NOTHING to do with current black culture. They distance themselves from it, it is a disease to them. Something to be tossed away and avoided at all costs.

And gee...they wind up being very successful. Wonder why that is?

Until you fix the culture you won't fix the problem.

You are a piece of sh!t. There are plenty of positive things about black culture. And if they got racist fer like you as a mentor it doesn't say much about the place where you work. I am just sick and tired of reading your bs. You are a revolting, ignorant, and vile human being.

Spidey suffers from delusions of grandeur. I love how he thinks he's "fixing the culture" because he mentors two people who, by the looks of his comment, had already established themselves morally and intellectually.

Because Obama just set up the Black Kid Foundation.

False. But, you know...whatever helps yall keep up the rhetoric.

I think you forget that a very, very, very small minute percentage got away with fraud there. The vast majority of white people are not given the white privileged that you are speaking of.

Ok try this...

white culture - buy pot
black culture - buy pot 10x more likely to be jailed.

Obama could solve that problem tomorrow.

Why not end the war on drugs? That would be far more effective than whatever this program will accomplish.

I guess but how would that change state drug laws and where drug arrests are targeted?

LOL, yes, such privilege I enjoy.

Whether you recognize it or not, being born a white male in America is like having a cheat code for life.

It may not make you a winner, but it certainly gives you a leg up.

Sorry, it's the Black and Hispanic Kids Foundation.

If you don't like it, take it up with the White House.

http://www.whitehouse.gov/my-brothers-keeper

"Creating opportunity for boys and young men of color."

I see you left out this part (emphasis added):

The data proves it: Boys and young men of color — regardless of where they come from — are disproportionately at risk from their youngest years through college and the early stages of their professional lives.

Everybody's all fired up. A couple of things to remember.

Obama is a pathological liar. There is no reason to start believing anything he says now. Only a fool would do so.

If the program gets off the ground and funds are actually collected, they will be diverted. Look at the Clinton Foundation. It's riddled with corruption. So much so that the New York Times no less wrote an article about it.

For all of its successes, the Clinton Foundation had become a sprawling concern, supervised by a rotating board of old Clinton hands, vulnerable to distraction and threatened by conflicts of interest. It ran multimillion-dollar deficits for several years, despite vast amounts of money flowing in.
There ain't a black kid in America that will benefit one iota from this. This is nothing but political grandstanding. A means to raise money for purposes as yet unknown. And unless the media starts doing its job, we may never know what for.

Wrong. Want to know what gives you a leg up? Not squandering the opportunities that you do have. The problem is poverty and the mindset it creates, not color.

As I said, you may not recognize it.

Whether you believe it or not, you benefit from your white skin in this country.

Due to poverty, not color.

This program is aimed at color.

It's just more racism.

It's aimed at helping a group of people who are disproportionately at risk. The group just happens to fall along racial lines.

Without a doubt many of your posts in this forum are anger filled (profanity laced) whereas none of mine have any anger or profanity whatsoever. It time for you to be as critical of your own posts are you areof spideys.

I wasn't critical of spidey's post, you were. I explained to you why YOU shouldn't be why he can't be responsible for what he is. So first you condemn him and now me, all the while being nicely spoken and lacking any rage, and at the same time a gigantic liar because you don't know what you feel. You repress everything and see your own evil in others. I myself am a mad man with nothing repressed. That fills beautiful little me with love. Why would I need to be self critical when I'm perfect.

You're probably right, once all is said and done. We'll probably come to find out millions just disappeared into the hands of various campaign donors or other assorted political hacks. Mostly all the political class of this country does is line their own pockets while hiding behind various guises of helping the poor. It just gives them cover against anyone that dares blow the whistle, they can be shouted down with "you hate the children!!!" or in this case the lefts all time favorite standby "racist!!!"

Incidentally, just observe how mindlessly racist and venom-spitting hateful lefties get while calling other people racist. It's always fascinating lemming behavior to observe.

Well, I think its nice. There are so many bad neighborhoods out there where people don't have any positive influence or reinforcement.

I think its great that Obama wants to help groups affected by high crime and incarceration rates.

Also, "minorities" or "of color" does not just mean black people.

With all the hooting and hollering people do on this forum about "thugs" and "skittles"...I find it hilarious that one of those people are now screaming its racist to want keep people from becoming "thugs" and "skittles".
Handout programs cannot keep people from becoming Skittles. Only the Mars corporation can do that. With, you know, fences around the machinery and such.

Fuck you.

I help in spite of your culture and lift others. Your attitude is the problem. Until black culture realizes that you are perpetually doomed
Her attitude is fine. She has done what she needed to do - stay clean, don't get knocked up without a mate, get a useful education, get a suitably profitable job, help keep her sister out of trouble. Recognizing that anyone can do it does not negate recognizing that many people won't do it, but might with a little more suitable help.

Put it this way - if you have a dozen cattle stuck in a bog and one climbs out, you don't just demand that they all climb out, you help the others get out. We kill cattle at will for meat; these are people. Surely we can exert more effort for people than for cattle.

He has a point though. A big part of black culture (to the extent such a thing can exist) is destructive of self and society. This is exactly what programs like this aim to change. The only place he errs is in assuming that black culture is only these things, that people like you and Shehateme must embrace either good white culture or bad black culture. In reality black culture is every bit as much you and Shehateme as it is gangsta rap and snitches get stitches, just as those same thuggish elements are a part of white culture. Culture is merely the integral of every piece of the group, an amorphous artificial construct which may or may not be useful but which can never be a totally accurate description of any of the individuals to which it is applied. Once we get to the point of demanding that someone embrace or reject a particular culture the concept has ceased to be useful, for every culture contains both good and bad and any two intertwined cultures will contain significant overlap.

To reference Chris Rock, BoberFett will you switch places with a black guy or are you just going to ride out that being white thing? :whiste::biggrin:

What's a big part? You mean the small part of black society who lives a degenerate life? News flash that is not a big part of black society. Many black men end up in jail, simply because they are BLACK. I don't even get why its so hard to comprehend when many like Spidey are the ones shaping social justice. Drugs and violence thrives in the POOR and the poor unfortunately is much larger in the black community. Go to the ghetto and see all the races who live there. I believe in accountability and living right, which I do. But I consider myself fortunate, lucky, its just not about hard work, and not listening to rap music.

LOL!

"social justice". It's the buzzword for stealing from others and achieving equal outcome instead of equal opportunity.

I don't think it's a small part, nor is it necessarily living a degenerate lifestyle. It's more about being surrounded by negative influences, with few positive influences. And don't sell yourself short - it's not just being lucky, it is also hard work. I don't think it necessarily has anything to do with rap music either, other than so much of rap being destructive influences. Rap music is just like violent video games - if a person has a strong moral core, it's just entertainment. If a person lacks a strong moral core, then the messages taken from rap music or movies or video games may be taken as an acceptable code of behavior - especially if this code is the predominant one seen around them.

I don't think it's poverty either, except in that the same factors which tend to cause poverty also tend to cause lack of a strong moral fiber. If one is raised in the ghetto with two good parents or one really good parent, then one will probably have a strong moral fiber and a decent chance to escape the ghetto even given the typically horrible schools. But those raised in poverty in America tend to be those with one absent parent and often the non-absent parent might as well be. In that case, only the truly exceptional will rise out of the murk on their own merits. For those not born truly exceptional, their best chance lies in turning points - one really good teacher, a mentor, some role model who points out a believable path out of the ghetto. In life as in science, one of the biggest determinants of success is believing that something is possible. To scientists it's believing that something is possible at all; to someone growing up in the ghetto, it might be believing that something is possible for them, that successful people are not some other species whose success is not possible for "people like me".
