I got the same tower at Staples for $325 after tax. It's what I'm posting on right now actually. Just waiting for the video card and power supply to show up.

This already is a rather huge step up from my old DTR laptop (Dell 9300 with a Pentium M 1.73ghz/2gb/6800go) for general computing, and should get quite a bit better when the video card shows up.

The reason I finally went to upgrade was being tired of not being able to play Tropico 3 and Sims 3, and so I can start playing Day of Defeat : Source and TF2 ect again.

Currently I'm using a junk 1280x800 monitor that I got for $70 YEARS ago. I'm thinking about getting a new one with a resolution no bigger than 1680x1050.

Not bad once you factor in the rebate on that GTS 250. A used 4870 would've probably been a better value though.

A better value sure, but a roll of the dice with buying something used was something I wanted to avoid. Thanks for the input.

I'd suggest that (if you can) upgrade the memory in the desktop to at least 4GB to make use of the 64-bit OS. Judging by what's in the model you referenced to, the dual channel mode would not be utilized unless there are matching pair(s).

This will be especially helpful when you start getting into resolutions, such as 1680x1050 or higher.

Parts showed up. Little disappointed that the power supply's plug overlaps a little bit with part of the case, so it doesn't mount flush. But outside of that everything is quite outstanding.

Originally the gaming graphics score was 3.2. I have to say I am quite pleased with how this has turned out for a $500 rig.

I'd be more than happy to run some benches if anyone has requests.
