Well, my '01 Integra got stolen. I don't want to buy a nice car until I move out of the area I'm currently living in.

What would you folks recommend as a temporary beater? I'd like to spend under, say $3000. My main focus will be on reliability -- performance can wait until I move and buy a nicer car.

I've seen two older Integra's lately for cheap. One of them was red for $1500, but I think that it was a first gen (early 90s).

If it is a temporary beater, just buy whatever runs.

How big a concern is fuel economy?

I'd say get some late 80s Detroit iron, something easy to work on. Have some fun with it.

LOL. Going by the tone of the post, it would seem that OP lives in a "not-so-nice" area. One Integra got stolen already. Why the hell would he be looking for the cars occupying spaces #1 and #2 on a car thief's shopping list to replace it?

as with any car parked on the street, u gotta take your chances. at least he'll be driving a decent car that will still give him many years and miles

Bingo! I'll be living in this area for at least another six months. Another Integra is absolutely not an option.

What do you folks think of early to mid 90's Accords? Still too high of a theft risk? My Integra was a GS-R so that was really a bullseye right there, I'd hope I'd be safer with a mid-level Accord.
