Well you still need comprehensive coverage regardless of the vehicle you get... As for the smell, you're going to want to buy a carpet cleaner with attachments and clean up that shit. First hose the interior down soak it up, then get bucket of water and some laundry detergent (don't go overboard on this, otherwise you'll spend hours removing soap from the carpet) get a nice scrubbing brush, go to town on the carpets and shit. (DO NOT USE STIFF BRISTLED BRUSH ON PLASTICS!!! YOU WILL SCRATCH THEM, USE SOFT COTTON CLOTH TO CLEAN) Soak up nasty shit with carpet cleaner, get garden hose, rinse, and repeat until the water being sucked up stops looking like soapy sewage... Then crack the windows and let the car dry out.
Re-check the car for smells a few days later, if it still smells bad, then the next step is to get Twenty Mule Team Borax, mix in bucket with plenty of water (think 5 gallons of water, a cup of borax and quarter or half cup of detergent like as if you're doing a load of laundry, pour but not too much at a time, scrub, soak, basically go over the carpet again, soak up the standing water with carpet cleaner but don't rinse. Wait several hours to let that shit soak in, then come back later and rinse that shit and soak it up with the carpet cleaner...
It's not impossible to get the smells out of the car especially if you go all out and use Borax. Your biggest threat when doing this job is making sure you don't get mildew/mold growing which depending on ambient temps/humidity may require you to get an electric fan and possibly space heater (BE CAREFUL, NO EXTENSION CORDS) to dry that shit out.
What I've described sounds like it's complicated but it's actually pretty simple. There are shit tons of information online discussing the cleaning of smelly carpet, cars, etc.
