You're going to install silicone gaskets to all your case mounted fans as well as the power supply.
You're going to mount your hard drive/s using elastic suspension.

He could probably also get an SSD for just a bit more than the price of that mounting hardware, and fix the problem that way. Besides, that old hard drive is ticking time bomb anyway.

I have this problem for 2 month and I checked all failed case fans or supply fan but its OK, most likely problem in my hdd. Now I am looking for new SSD what model you recommend?

I like the Samsung 850 Evo models. You can get a 120 GB model for around $75.

Could some program be spinning up your optical drive to access it?
Is there a CD or DVD in there?

It could be.

I'd still slap at least a Sammy 850 Evo in there, IMHO.

Use two 120's in RIAD0 on my main. 78 on a 10K drive is dinky these days.

+1

Or one of these for more storage and a bit more.

Crucial MX200 2.5" 250GB SATA 6Gbps (SATA III) Micron 16nm MLC NAND Internal Solid State Drive (SSD) CT250MX200SSD1

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...48&cm_re=crucial_mx200-_-20-148-948-_-Product

What I slapped in my sister-in-laws recently when they had a couple old 10000 Raptors they had been using for years in RIAD0 die that I built for em, and I rebuilt it.

They love it, if your not going to use another HDD for storage the 500 isn't a big jump either.

He's running an U320 SCSI hard drive. I wouldn't be so sure that he's got anything to plug an SSD into.

That hard drive is ancient, that alone should be an indicator they aren't crap.

1. dont raid SSD's unless ur after redundancy.... you wont notice jack squat of a performance.

2. dont raid SSD unless ur expanding a storage space to consolidate on 1 drive letter... even then JBOD will work and your not forced to pair SSD's.
(example... if u have a 120g... and u can only afford another 120g, then R-0 may be a viable option to expand to 220gigs... however for noticeable difference u wont see ANY outside synthetic benchmarks.)

grab the largest SSD u can possibly afford with a reputable name. Most SSD owners biggest remorse is "dayam i should of gotten the larger one."

So you're running an add-on U320 controller on a modern board just to run a single U320 hard drive? Sorry, but something doesn't add up. Can you post your full system details?
